Jesy Nelson shared a snap enjoying the heatwave as she and a pal gave physio to her twin daughters, Ocean and Story, in the park amid their devastating battle with SMA Type 1.

Jesy Nelson shared a sweet snap to her social media followers as she gave her twins, Ocean and Story, physiotherapy in the park amid their ongoing health battle. Back in January, 34-year-old Jesy opened up on how her one-year-olds were diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 1, a rare muscle-wasting condition.

Sadly, the late diagnosis means the two little girls are likely to never walk and will need specialist equipment to help them breathe at night, as well as feeding tubes in order to eat.

But Jesy, like everyone else, looked to be making the best of the scorching weather as she took the twins to the park.

Sharing the Instagram story with her followers, she showed Ocean and Story laid on their backs as their mum helped the girls exercise in an effort to build muscle strength in their legs.

Despite the devastating prognosis that her daughters may not live beyond the age of two, Jesy has decided to keep strong and keep trying to make changes and educate people on the illness.

Speaking to Jamie Laing on his Great Company podcast, Jesy said she is hopeful her babies will outlive the prognosis and defy the odds, and explained they’re receiving treatment in a bid to extend their life expectancy.

“So spinal muscular atrophy is a muscular wasting disease, so they don’t have a gene that we all have in our body,” she explained to Jamie.

“Their muscles are now deteriorating and wasting away, and if you don’t get them treatment in time, eventually the muscles will all just die, which then affects the breathing, the swallowing, everything. And they will die before the age of two.

“It’s not okay, but it is what it is, and I just have to accept it, and now just try and make the best out of this situation… And my girls are the strongest, most resilient babies and I really believe that they are going to defy all the odds.”

Speaking about her Prime Video series and the decision to keep filming in a Q&A, she said: “As hard as it was, we were like ‘You know what? There’s a reason you guys are here, and we’ve got to make the best out of this situation’.”

The former Little Mix star previously said the medical procedures her daughters have to go through on a daily basis leave her feeling like she’s hurting them given how much they cry and scream.

She’s described caring for the twins as an emotional rollercoaster, wth some days being “really f*****g s**t” while others can be slightly better.

Jesy and her ex, Zion who is the father of the twins, never expected to have to care for the babies in such a demanding way, and she has opened up on the daily struggle providing their medical needs takes.

“Every day is so full on – I can speak about it, but I will never be able to explain how intense it is until you actually see it,” she heartbreakingly said.
