The Jets did not wait long to move on from a rookie kicker.
The team is cutting kicker Will Ferrin, according to a source. Ferrin has not been with the Jets long. He was signed as an undrafted free agent at the conclusion of last month’s NFL draft.
He kicked at the rookie minicamp last weekend and was inconsistent. Ferrin, who kicked at BYU, received $18,750 guaranteed, according to Spotrac.
The Jets made the move to clear a roster spot for wide receiver Tim Patrick, whom they agreed to a deal with on Wednesday.
The Jets are searching for a kicker after losing Nick Folk to the Falcons in free agency. They currently have Cade York and Lenny Krieg on the roster at the position, but there is likely to be movement at the position this spring and summer until they find an answer.
