The Jets, who trailed the Montreal Canadiens by a 4-0 score with under three minutes remaining in regulation, stormed back with four straight goals to knot the score, followed by the overtime game-winner, stunning the Habs.

Jets forward Kyle Connor scored Winnipeg’s third and fourth goals just 27 seconds apart, while defenseman Tyrel Bauer got the comeback started with his first NHL goal; he also added an assist.

Afterward, Connor spoke glowingly about the effect that Bauer, who was playing in just his 10th NHL game, has had on the team.

“Every time he steps on the ice and he does something like that, it fires us up,” Connor said via Jets beat writer Mike McIntyre on X, formerly known as Twitter. “He’s the ultimate teammate. He’s such a great guy. He’ll put his body on the line for his teammates, plays hard, and I just think it kind of settles everybody into the game.”

Bauer spent the next several seasons with the American Hockey League affiliate Manitoba Moose, appearing in 214 AHL games and amassing 21 points while accumulating 401 penalty minutes.
