Bettors are going head-to-head with reporters over the No. 2 overall pick.
Arvell Reese is the betting favorite to be selected by the Jets with their first pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, with -170 odds at BetMGM, despite reporters projecting other options in their latest mocks.
The Post’s Steve Serby, ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. and Peter Schrager and many more are projecting Texas Tech EDGE rusher David Bailey to be selected No. 2 overall.
That is despite big money coming in on Reese, with a massive $1.98 million in trading volume on Kalshi.
It is important to note that mock drafters and reporters still have time to post new mock drafts and their opinions could change, but the big money opposing Bailey to the Jets is notable.
The Post’s Jets beat writer Brian Costello has the Jets trading down from No. 2 overall to No. 4 and still taking Reese in his latest mock, and he has written how the Ohio State star seems like a good option.
We’ve seen bettors argue against reporters in the past to some success.
In the 2022 NBA Draft, Jabari Smith had -6000 odds to be drafted No. 1 overall by the Magic on the day of the actual event with Adrian Wojnarowski, among others, repeatedly saying Orlando would not select Paolo Banchero (+3000 at one point on draft day).
Bettors hammered Banchero all day despite Wojnarowski’s reporting, eventually pulling him to favorite status by draft time, and they were rewarded handsomely.
In the 2021 NFL Draft, Mac Jones was once favored to be the 49ers’ No. 3 overall pick before bettors slammed big money on Trey Lance.
Betting on the NFL?
Lance wound up being the pick despite no reporting at the time, leading to the conclusion that he would be drafted in that spot.
There’s some more betting uncertainty going on at No. 3 overall, as Jeremiah Love has vaulted up the market to be selected at a pick currently held by the Cardinals.
Love moved from +1000 to +225 odds over the weekend as ESPN reported that Arizona was targeting the running back if the Cardinals cannot move find a trade partner.
