Hyderabad:Teaching and non-teaching staff of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH) on Friday held a march on the campus in support of Vice Chancellor Prof. T. Kishen Kumar Reddy, against whom a case of making derogatory, gender-discriminatory and threatening remarks has been filed, condemning what they described as false allegations against him.

Staff members wore black badges as a mark of protest. During the lunch break, they marched from the Dr B.R. Ambedkar statue to the university’s administrative building, carrying placards condemning what they said were attempts to tarnish the image of the Vice Chancellor and the university. The march was attended by directors, principals, administrative staff and representatives of teaching and non-teaching staff associations. The participants submitted a representation to JNTUH registrar Dr A. Jaya Laxmi in the presence of director Dr A. Damodaram, expressing their support for the vice-chancellor.

The protest came after the Principal and the head of the computer science and engineering (CSE) department of Vidya Jyothi Institute of Technology (VJIT) accused Prof. Kishen Kumar Reddy of making derogatory, gender-discriminatory and threatening remarks during a meeting on October 6. They lodged a complaint with the Kukatpally police over the alleged remarks.
