Despite his wife, Anna Osceola’s pregnancy making headlines for some time, Jon Hamm had been unusually quiet. However, the 55-year-old actor finally broke his silence during his latest appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers. Jon confessed that he is both “very excited and deeply terrified” about becoming a dad. He thinks that he is “doing it right” and believes that even though his emotions are conflicting, the feelings shouldn’t “go away.”
Jon also did not shy away from talking about his “old dad” status on camera. Poking fun at it, he said, “When your kid is 70, you’ll be like, ‘I did it!’ When I’m 152.”

During his conversation with Seth Meyers, the host pointed out how Jon Hamm’s wife, Anna Osceola, picked the “peak” time to show off her budding belly, referring to their appearance at the 2026 Emmys. Jon could not help agreeing with Seth as he said, “I’m not saying she did it on purpose, but it was some timing.”
Marking their first major public appearance after the pregnancy news first broke, Jon and Anna arrived hand-in-hand at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles for the ceremony. While Jon looked dapper in a classic black tuxedo, his wife showed off her baby bump in an elegant black-and-white patterned halter dress. Notably, Anna Osceola had previously been photographed with a visible baby bump during their getaway in the Hamptons, but the Emmys were their first official red carpet since then.
At the time, a source told Us Weekly that Jon and Anna were thrilled to start a family together. The source was quoted as saying:
“Jon has always wanted to be a dad with Anna. Having a family was something that was really important to both of them from the beginning. They’ve talked about this chapter for a long time and were always on the same page about wanting children, so for it to actually be happening now feels incredibly special.”
The insider revealed that Anna Osceola is “pretty far along now and feeling really good.” Jon Hamm’s excitement at becoming a father with Anna is a stark contrast to his previous statement where he claimed that he would make a “terrible father.”
In a 2012 interview, when Jon Hamm was 41 and still dating actress Jennifer Westfeldt, he candidly admitted, “I’d be a terrible father.” In another interview that year, the actor said that he didn’t have a driving force to have a baby. He also swore off marriage at the same time, saying:
“I don’t mean to say that it shouldn’t mean things to other people. It’s just my experience. I don’t have that paragon of married life to look at and think, ‘Oh yeah, that’s it! That’s what I want!’”
However, Jon Hamm’s attitude towards getting married and having kids changed when he began dating Anna Osceola. In fact, in 2024, Jon said that he hopes that their relationship “turns into kids.”
