WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. — John Harbaugh’s unofficial Giants coaching debut is right around the corner, and the team might look closer to a regular-season product than you would expect.
Asked for the first time if he plans to play the Giants starters in the preseason, Harbaugh indicated it is possible Aug. 15 against the Vikings, Aug. 22 at the Dolphins or Aug. 28 at the Jets.
“We haven’t decided exactly yet,” Harbaugh said. “I think we’ll probably lean toward — you know, we’re a young team. So, young guys, we’re going to want them out there playing and getting experience. So, I would think that would be the way we’d be leaning. How much, what degree, what games, we have to figure that out still.”
QB Jaxson Dart discussed for the first time his penalized ball flip at CB Greg Newsome II to conclude Tuesday’s practice after a touchdown run. No hard feelings on either side, he said.
“G-New’s my brother,” Dart said. “I mean, brothers compete, brothers get into it. It’s a battle every single play, and I think that when you’re in those environments, it just gets competitive. So, that’s just kind of football, but at the same time, you got to respect the fact that you hold each other accountable and you have those conversations.”
The Giants signed FB Grant Finley — who was part of rookie minicamp — and waived TE Tyler Moore. Finley is the second fullback on the roster.
