Forget “Your Body.”
In 2027, the Sphere will be John Mayer‘s “Wonderland.”
Due to overwhelming demand, the seven-time Grammy winner extended his residency at Las Vegas’ one-of-a-kind immersive venue a second time.
Originally set for just six shows, Mayer will now perform 21 (!) concerts that “combine immersive sound, visual spectacle, and sensory feedback to make each show a unique, unforgettable celebration” from April through June 2027.
His most-recently trio of announced Sin City gigs are slated to take place:
Wednesday, June 9
8 p.m.
Friday, June 11
8 p.m.
Saturday, June 12
8 p.m.
At all shows, Mayer will put on a three-part experience with a solo section, a bit alongside his full band and a stretch featuring The John Mayer Trio.
“It’s never lost on me that I get to work with the most talented people to make beautiful things for a living,” the Dead and Company frontman shared via Instagram.
“I can’t wait for you to see and hear what I’m dreaming up.”
Tickets for the new dates officially go on sale on Friday, Oct. 16 at 10 a.m. on Ticketmaster.
However, inventory is available for purchase for the first 18 Mayer Sphere concerts as of today and can be scooped up on ticket sites like Vivid Seats, StubHub and SeatGeek.
And, while we don’t know what Mayer will take to the stage (by himself, with his full band or Trio), we can make an educated guess based on what he played at Uncasville, CT’s Mohegan Sun Arena on Oct. 9.
According to Set List FM, the Bridgeport native rocked “Gravity,” “Slow Dancing in a Burning Room,” “New Light,” “If I Ever Get Around to Living” and, of course, “Your Body Is a Wonderland.”
He also busted out spirited covers of a-ha’s “Take On Me,” Harry Styles’ “As It Was,” Beyoncé’s “XO,” Tex Owens’ “Cattle Call” (that came complete with yodeling) and Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin’.”
“The music gave the evening its heart…[but] his guitar work was equally compelling,” Hey Rhody noted in a review of the evening.
“A decade of playing alongside members of the Grateful Dead in Dead & Company has expanded his musical reach…[and] in the solo setting, his deft playing stood out even more clearly, with rhythmic accents and melodic phrases that spoke as eloquently as his lyrics.”
Wit that, we can’t wait to see what Mayer’s Sphere show looks and sounds like.
