He may be plotting to leave DR Congo shaken and stirred in the World Cup on Wednesday night, but possibly one day playing James Bond is never far from Jude Bellingham’s mind

Jude Bellingham thinks he would make a fantastic James Bond and revealed it’s his life ambition to star in a big film.

The midfielder superstar – England’s best player at the World Cup so far – thinks he may have hidden talents and shared his acting aspirations. The Real Madrid magician admits he would love to swap the pitch for the big screen once his playing career eventually comes to a close and knows the role he wants.

During an appearance on After Hours with James Corden, the 23-year-old also discussed England’s World Cup chances, life in Spain and the possibility of one day playing in Major League Soccer like Lionel Messi. As England prepare to take on DR Congo on Wednesday in Atlanta, Bellingham spoke about his other big passion.

Portraying Britain’s most famous fictional spy would is on his mind and his told Gavin & Stacey star James: “People would always ask me, ‘What’s the thing you want to do outside of football?’ And I never really give it that much thought.

“But when I have, it always comes out – I’d love to be in a film. “I’d love to be James Bond. I’ve watched the Sean Connery ones, Roger Moore. I’ve seen all of them. I love James Bond. I swear, I’d love to be.

“Maybe James Bond himself, but you’ve got to crawl before you can walk. They haven’t (found a new Bond) yet, have they?”

But first, there’s the pressing matter of England ending a 60-year wait for a World Cup win.

“It would just be beyond iconic, beyond legendary,” Bellingham said of the prospect. “It’d be something that would bring the country together for years and years. And when it does, I think it’ll be an unbelievable time for the country.”

Jude also told the host how he copes with playing for one of the biggest clubs on the planet and how he tries to keep his head down with football fans in every corner of Madrid.

“Going to the main bits of the city it’s got to be like a hoodie, cap, shades to not get recognised,” he went on. “But to be fair, even if you do get seen, it’s always admiration or respect.

“They really put you on a pedestal of, ‘Wow, you play for Real Madrid,’ because they appreciate what it takes to get there.

“All the people are just so warm. Warmer when you’re winning. Sure, it can be a bit tough when you’re losing, but generally speaking, there are a lot of really warm people in the city.”

There have already been some surprising results in the round of 32 stage in the World Cup, with the Netherlands losing on a penalty shootout to Morocco, while Germany were also beaten on spot-kicks by Paraguay.

The Three Lions are currently preparing for their round of 32 clash in the tournament, where a place in the last-16 is up for grabs on Wednesday.

England will face DR Congo tomorrow, and a victory in Georgia would seal a clash against either Mexico or Ecuador.

Former England striker Alan Shearer believes that the Three Lions will find it tough to break down DR Congo’s defence, and will face similar struggles to what they came up against when they defeated Panama, as well as from their goalless draw with Ghana.
