Peter Andre and Katie Price’s son Junior lifts the lid on working nights on the London Underground to fund his music career and addresses rumours he’s engaged to Jasmine Orr
He may be turning 21 in a few weeks, but Junior Andre speaks with the wisdom and gravitas of someone beyond his years. The singer, and son of new columnist Peter and former model Katie Price, chats to us from his West Sussex home alongside his model girlfriend, Jasmine Orr, 25.
On the agenda is their relationship, moving in together and their careers. As well as pursuing his love of music, Junior tells us he wants to use his platform for good and aims to shine a light on men’s mental health.
The couple lift the lid on their future plans and whether we’ll be seeing more of them on our TV screens…
Hi, guys! You seem super loved-up. What’s Junior like as a boyfriend, Jasmine?
Jasmine: The best – not to make his head any bigger! He’s respectful, down to earth, always there for me. He knows how to support me and listens.
What does Jasmine mean to you, Junior?
Junior: I tell her every day she’s beautiful. She’s the best and I appreciate her. I feel like growing up, the life that I’ve had, it’s been really hard to trust people and know people’s real intentions and fully open my heart and be me. Jasmine allows me to do that. She loves me for me.
Jasmine: That is cute!
Since moving in together, have you discovered any annoying habits?
Junior: I’m the annoying habit!
Jasmine: Because it’s the first time for Junior living with a partner and living independently, there’s a few things he’s not the best at, but it’s all about learning.
Junior: It’s mad everything you have to do when you move out. You take for granted what your parents do for you. It comes more naturally to Jasmine.
Jasmine: I noticed that you opened the dishwasher yesterday, saw it was clean…and closed it.
What’s your relationship like with Junior’s family, Jasmine?
Jasmine: Recently we’ve really bonded and I love them all. Before I met them for first time I was nervous, but when I walked in it was just so calm and full of love. They always put me at ease.
How did you find hosting the UK Top Influencer Awards together?
Junior: I really enjoyed it. I love being on stage. I’m used to it in terms of music and it felt natural to me. I was more confident and nonchalant about it.
Jasmine: He’s very chill, which is lovely because it feels like he’s the calm to my storm. I can get stressed easily. But the night was amazing.
Would you do something like that again?
Junior: I want to do more presenting stuff definitely.
On TV? We could see you on Love Island presenting…
Jasmine: That would be so fun.
Junior: We’re open to discussions!
Jasmine: Something like Aftersun would be really fun.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
Junior: I’d like to think I’d be financially stable. I’d be a proper music artist that is respected in the industry. I’d like to do more with mental health awareness – particularly men’s mental health. I feel like a lot of men don’t speak up enough. And definitely more TV and presenting.
Have you ever struggled with your own mental health?
Junior: Growing up is hard – and the life I’ve grown up in. I’m very open and can talk about my feelings. I’m very in touch with my emotions and I think a lot of men aren’t. What helps me is how in touch my dad was and is with talking about things. He’s always telling me how much he loves me and we’re a hugging family. That’s made me be that way. It’s really important to speak up.
What’s the best advice your dad has ever given you?
Jasmine: They’re both really good at advice.
Junior: Always remain humble, grounded, be respectful and spread love and positivity.
What are your future plans as a couple?
Junior: I get scared if I think about kids, marriage, because we’re not there. There’s so much more we want to do before we think about that stuff.
Jasmine: We’re on the same page in that they’re such big things. Having a child – that’s a full human!
Junior: We’ll know when the time’s right.
How about music? Is there more in the pipeline, Junior?
Junior: Oh yes! Music is my biggest passion. I can’t wait – it’s all I’ve wanted to do.
Jasmine: He can do it all. He can rap, be vulnerable, do a ballad, a dance song. It’s exciting.
We read that you worked on the London Underground to fund your music, Junior. Your family must be very proud of you…
Junior: My dad was brought up very strict, so regardless of anything, he says, “You’ve got to work, son.” As much as he’s there for me, and my mum is there for me, I don’t want handouts. I need to learn life the proper way. So when things got hard, instead of sitting there doing nothing, I was like, “I need to do what I’ve got to do.” I threw myself in at the deep end, but I never gave up on my dream. It made me understand the value of money and grafting. People still say, “You’ve never done a day’s hard work in your life”, and I’m like, “I have!”
