Junior Andre took a trip back to his childhood today after sharing a disturbing revelation about his upbringing. The singer, 21, left fans heartbroken last week when he admitted he felt ‘neglected’ by mum, Katie Price, 47, while reflecting on his childhood with younger sister, Princess.
Opening up about the traumatic time when he was aged 11 and Katie had just split from third husband, Kieran Hayler, Junior says in Katie’s new documentary: “That was probably the most difficult time of my life, our lives”, as Princess agreed: “I didn’t know what was going on and I couldn’t talk to mum about it because she wasn’t there.” Junior continued: “And when she was there, she wasn’t there, and we as siblings just kind of looked after each other.”
Thankfully, mother and son are a lot closer now, with Junior spending the day with Katie and brother, Harvey, at the horse stables. Explaining that he grew up around horses before his parents divorced, he begins in his Instagram video: “This is kind of where it all started with these beautiful horses.”
Showing Katie getting ‘Cracker’ ready to ride, he continues: “Mum is getting this one ready for me to ride. Can’t remember when the last I rode a horse but I’ll give it a go.”
Saying she wants to get her son “back into riding again”, Katie helps Junior onto the horse as he quite literally gets back in the saddle. Revealing that he hasn’t been on a horse since he was 12, the Slide star trots around as Katie says he’s “still a natural”.
After a couple of minutes, Junior admits: “It’s hurting my b****s” as Katie jokes: “Well you’ve grown a lot more since [you were last on a horse]”.
It comes after the singer broke down in tears in Katie’s new documentary as he opened up about his younger days. Katie went off the rails following the collapse of her marriage to Kieran, spiralling into depression and developing a cocaine addiction.
Recalling one harrowing memory, he says: “Thinking back to one vivid memory, I was in her bed waiting for her to come back and I woke up 3.30am to loud noises.
“She came in the room, I’ll never forget the look on her face. She was obviously on stuff and it scared me, I’d never seen my mum like this.
“That’s when I started seeing the same pattern and her falling down the same hole. When she wasn’t in the right headspace she really wasn’t and she wasn’t being a mum.
“The mum that I knew from when I was a little boy, the amount of love she gave me was so immense, that’s what I missed so much.”
