ADILABAD: Jayaprada Yalamanchili, 72, of Kagaznagar town, has completed 50 years of service in the teaching profession.

She had served as a government teacher for 38 years. After retirement, she went on to become the principal of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Junior College for Girls at Gannaram and principal of the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule School in Kagaznagar town of Komaram Bheem Asifabad district.
Jayaprada’s colleagues, well-wishers and students have honoured her by organising a Golden Jubilee Celebration for her in Kagaznagar town on Sunday.
The event turned out like a festival in which her students, their parents, colleagues and leaders of the State Teachers’ Union (STU) participated and recalled her services in different capacities.
Leaders of STU emphasised that Jayaprada had also been active in the teachers’ union. She served a term as president of the erstwhile Adilabad district’s STU. The union leaders said she fought not only for better facilities for students but also for teachers’ rights.
Responding, Jayaprada said she could not have served the students for 50 long years had it not been for the support and cooperation from their parents, teacher colleagues and the society.

Those who attended her felicitation function include former MLA Koneru Konappa, and former leader of STU Mukunda Rao.
