Kalahari
African$
A hybrid grocer, liquor store and cafe: Kalahari has served the South African community since 2010. Of all the changes introduced by new owners Emma and Sean Nofal, most pleasing has been the fine-tuning of the food. A former Meat & Wine Co chef, Sean fries puffy vetkoek – fried bread – to order; serves a mighty steak sanger; is a dab hand at curry and spice; and knows his way around a grill.
Good to know: visiting Kalahari and not taking away some house-made biltong would be a grave mistake
