Karamo Brown recently sat down for a conversation with People. During the chat, he revealed that he decided to undergo a buccal fat removal surgery after gaining 70 pounds during the COVID-19 pandemic. For those unaware, it is a special cosmetic procedure that removes excess fat from the cheeks. In turn, it helps to get a sculpted facial appearance. This procedure has increasingly become popular among celebrities and social media influencers.

However, things did not go as planned. According to Karamo, he developed scar tissue after the procedure. Gradually, it became painful and blocked his saliva glands. In fact, the buildup caused his cheeks to swell. In fact, even the simplest facial movements became a challenge for him. At the same time, his trapped saliva and scar tissue prevented him from smiling. The issue persisted for several years, and Karamo could no longer manage to work on his daytime talk show, which aired in 2022. 

Eventually, Karamo sought another corrective treatment to overcome the damage. He admitted to the publication that he had to undergo another surgery to get that scar tissue removed. At the same time, the medical professionals repaired those affected areas. Alongside, he underwent a lower blepharoplasty, a cosmetic surgery procedure performed below his eyes. Now, Karamo admitted that he stayed silent about his pain due to embarrassment. But despite the challenges, he decided not to pursue legal action against the doctor who did his buccal fat surgery and moved on.

Karamo Brown has opened up about his buccal fat removal surgery gone wrong when he was in the spotlight for his exit from Queer Eye. It is an Emmy-winning Netflix makeover show, which made him a household name. According to Karamo, the tensions between him and other members of the show had been brewing for months. In fact, he also admitted that they had a challenging work environment with ongoing conflict between the cast.

One incident reportedly stood out when Karamo’s mother came on set one day and heard others talk negatively about her son. In turn, the reality TV star admitted that the incident made him reevaluate his role on the show. He announced publicly that he was focused on protecting his peace rather than maintaining any appearance. In turn, he distanced himself from his former castmates in the final season. However, the production companies of Queer Eye have disputed his claims.
