Good Morning Britain’s Laura Tobin said: ‘I don’t know if she has room in her life for anything other than work and her children.’

Kate Garraway is thought to have found love once again, after she was linked to economist and journalist, Liam Halligan. Just last month, the presenter, 59, was spotted supporting her new flame at an event which saw him cycle from London to Paris in 24 hours to raise money for muscular dystrophy charity, Duchenne UK.

The sighting sparked romance rumours as the pair cuddled up to one another, and two weeks later Kate exclusively told the Mirror that she didn’t want to jinx anything. “It is lovely. I suppose it is,” she gushed, before adding: “We basically haven’t really had time for a proper date! I don’t want to jinx it! I don’t want to say anything because I will jinx it! We all love an Irishman, don’t we?”

Yet her co-star, Laura Tobin, at Good Morning Britain, reveals the unexpected way she and her fellow colleagues caught wind of the budding relationship.

She said: “It was on the front page of a paper a while ago, and we were all like, what? And then they didn’t talk about it, so I want to ask her, but I don’t want to pry. I actually don’t know. It would be lovely if she had somebody.”

However, the 44-year-old meteorologist – who has presented the weather on the ITV show since 2014 – explains Kate is continually juggling family life and work, which can make dating difficult.

She said: “She has two children who are doing all sorts of things, and in the middle of every episode she inevitably will get a call from one of them with something going on at home, so I don’t know if she has room in her life for anything other than work and her children.”

Pressed on whether she thinks the former I’m A Celeb star deserves happiness after tragically losing her husband, Derek Draper, over two years ago, Laura admitted: “It would be amazing. She is the funniest, loveliest, cleverest person I’ve met, who’s also a calamity!”

Laura – who was in attendance at The Fragrance Foundation Awards, in the JW Marriott Grosvenor House, London, where she presented an award – maintains that she and her co-stars are just as close off-screen.

“We send each other messages all the time about different things. Most of them will send me pictures about the weather and ask, ‘What’s happening here?”’, but it’s mainly me asking Charlotte [Hawkins] if I can borrow her clothes.”
