Controversial Katie Hopkins was seen being escorted out of The Dundee Arms, Bethnal Green earlier this week as England fans watched the game and appeared to be angered by her presence
Far-right political commentator Katie Hopkins appeared to be ejected from a London pub after becoming involved in a heated confrontation while watching England’s World Cup opener against Croatia.
Footage circulating on social media appears to show the controversial media personality embroiled in an argument with fellow patrons at the Dundee Arms in Bethnal Green, east London, during Wednesday night’s match.
In the clip, shared online by internet personality Danny Price, a man can be heard telling Hopkins to leave the pub. Hopkins responds by telling him to “f*** off” before appearing to lunge towards another man, believed to be the landlord, in the crowd.
The footage appears to show the former Apprentice contestant raising her middle finger towards other customers as chants of “Katie, Katie, you’re a c***” break out around the pub.
As tensions escalate, Hopkins can be heard shouting “f*** you” before appearing to shove a man.
She then heads for the exit, with loud cheers erupting from inside the venue as she leaves. Outside, Hopkins appears to push away phones as bystanders attempt to film her walking away from the pub.
One customer, who asked not to be named, told MyLondon: “I think she was kicked out because of her racism and general views. The vibe of the pub was that people didn’t want her there. I was surprised she was served at all.”
The footage has been celebrated by viewers who rushed to congratulate the establishment for booting Katie and vowing to go there for a pint.
One person commented, “Little moments that preserve my faith in human nature.” Another user added, “Definitely gotta visit that pub and shake all of them by the hand.” And someone else wrote, “God she’s vile!”
Hopkins first came to public attention after appearing on the third series of The Apprentice in 2007 before forging a career as a newspaper columnist, broadcaster and political commentator.
She has frequently attracted controversy over comments on immigration, race, religion and social issues, leading to accusations of racism, Islamophobia, classism and fat-shaming, all of which she has denied.
In 2017, Hopkins left LBC following comments she made in the aftermath of the Manchester Arena bombing.
Three years later, her Twitter account was permanently suspended for breaching the platform’s hateful conduct policy. The account was later reinstated after the platform changed ownership.
The Mirror has approached Katie Hopkins for comment. The Dundee Arms declined to comment.
