Katie Price revealed that she is still “eaten up” over her split from ex-husband Peter Andre, nearly 20 years on from their split.
The former couple first met while taking part on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here in 2004, and walked down the aisle the following year. They went on to welcome children Junior and Princess Andre together, before their split in 2009.
The former glamour model, 48, later moved on with Alex Reid and they tied the knot in 2010 – while the Mysterious Girl singer, 53, tied the knot with doctor Emily MacDonagh.
Reflecting on their whirlwind romance in her new documentary, Katie Price: Nothing to Hide, the mum-of-five explained that her soul has “not been right” since they separated.
“Me and Pete, we had such amazing times, it really was a fairytale love story,” she said in the footage. “They were the best times of my life without a doubt, until things went sour. I’d love to sit next to him and reminisce about all of it.”
Katie described their decision to divorce as a “dagger in my heart”, and admitted that they “never sat down” to discuss what led to their split.
She conceded that, while some of her exes – including Dane Bowers and Gareth Gates – feature in her new doc, Peter would not be one of them.
“It’s weird 22 years on to reflect back on it, from then, my head, soul, heart, body has been shaken, not right since,” she continued. “I’ve never sat down with Pete from the moment we split up and spoke about that day, ever, never.
“I think that’s what’s been eating me up the most because I haven’t been able to sit down and talk to him.
“That had an impact on me for the rest of what 20 years on my mental health, everything, that was like wow, big impact. So ever since then I’ve been trying to find the same thing, what I had with Pete.”
Katie and Peter swept fans up in their love story in the early 00s, after they fell in love in the Australian jungle while filming I’m A Celeb.
After returning home, they fronted their own string of ITV shows, including Katie & Peter: The Next Chapter, and Katie & Peter: The Baby Diaries. However, this came to an end in the wake of their divorce.
Peter declined to take part in Katie’s new series – which is released on July 8 – and decided to remain quiet about his split from Katie “out of love and respect” for their two children.
“I have chosen not to speak publicly about these matters out of love and respect for Junior and Princess,” he added in a statement. “Today Katie and I maintain an amicable relationship in the interests of our children.
“I sincerely wish her happiness and peace for the future.”
Three years after their split, Peter went public with his romance with Emily, and they went on to marry in 2015. The couple share Millie, Theo and Belle together, but have made sure to keep their youngsters firmly out of the spotlight.
Katie has been married three times after her romance with the musician ended, most recently announcing her surprise wedding to husband Lee Andrews at the beginning of this year.
