Katie Price is ready to be honest, open and vulnerable about her life – and it looks like the tide is changing as she shares her regrets with her kids Princess and Junior

Katie Price’s life over the last three decades has been anything but quiet. The former glamour model, 48, burst into the spotlight at just 18-years-old under the pseudonym Jordan and she continues to court the press owing to her controversial fourth marriage to Lee Andrews.

Despite the endless chaos of her life, there’s quite the fascination with Katie and her life, which has been a revolving door of drama. From claims of being raped at gunpoint, bankruptcy, driving bans, four marriages, celebrity romances and a ‘missing’ husband in the Middle East, it continues.

Recently, we’ve seen a very different type of Katie. The bravado we once knew so well is gone and the façade is cracking. Katie is ready to lay all her cards on the table.

That couldn’t be more true when it came to her raw Nothing To Hide documentary for Sky, when last month, her kids Princess, 19, and Junior, 21, broke down in tears over their mum’s historic drug use.

And now, in an episode of her daughter’s ITV reality show, The Princess Diaries, for the first time ever, she takes ownership of her behaviour and isn’t hiding behind the latest scandal.

After Junior expressed how he and his sister are “always in the middle of it all”, Katie is full of regret as she said: “I know, and that’s what I hate. Anything with me, the repercussions go on you guys. That’s something I can’t control.

“In the past, some choices and actions I’ve made have affected family and friends when I wasn’t in a good head space. I wasn’t well. I did things and said things which I’m not proud of. People are still scarred from it.”

Katie has admitted to suffering from body dysmorphia, and has undergone countless surgeries, confessing she has lost count of the times she’s been under the knife. It’s believed she’s had over 18 operations on her breasts alone.

Although she bats away constant concern from fans about her weight and small frame, her daughter Princess appears to be the only person who she can be truly vulnerable around as she admits she is a little thin.

Talking on her show, after a vulnerable conversation with her mum, Princess said: “The fact mum got surgery at a young age, like my age, got boob jobs, I mean, I think it is sad that anyone kind of wants to change themselves in any way.”

In 2022, Katie admitted she had previously wanted to end her life. She admitted reaching breaking point and later sought help at The Priory, a rehabilitation clinic. She later credited her five children for getting her through.

“I tried to kill myself before I ended up in the Priory. The only reason I didn’t was because of my children. So, if my kids weren’t here, I wouldn’t be here today. Fact. The kids saved me,” she said.

It’s inevitable a history like hers would have had such an impact on her life and mental health. Katie was born in 1978 and at 18, she embarked on a career that would change the trajectory of her life.

She was sexually assaulted at the age of seven by an older person, something which she said influenced her decision to become a glamour model as it gave her a sense of control when she felt she didn’t have any. As her fame grew, she enjoyed a string of flings with the likes of Gareth Gates and Dwight Yorke, the latter of who is the father of her eldest son Harvey.

Harvey, now 24, was born with rare genetic disorder Prader-Willi syndrome, septo-optic dysplasia, which causes partial blindness, and autism and requires round the clock care from Katie with the support of a residential home he sometimes stays at.

She broke into the mainstream more during her stint on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here in 2004, where she met her first husband Peter Andre. The pair were married for nearly four years, fronting their own reality shows, but all went wrong when they split.Katie turned to other avenues to make money, television shows about her plans to have a baby, books about her rollercoaster life and even an ill-fated horseriding clothing line.

Marriages to exes Alex Reid and Kieran Hayler followed and she spiralled into debt, open about her struggles with her mental health and illicit substances. The TV star turned to drink and drugs to cope after suffering a “major breakdown”, which led to her crashing her car in September 2021. Multiple court appearances followed.

“I turned to something to escape from that, and mine ended up being the coke. This is why I can’t go back to my house, the times I’ve done coke there, all the parties there,” she said, writing an open letter to the drug saying it would “never get the better of her again”.

Things eventually settled after Katie got herself back on two feet. She rekindled her relationship with Princess and Junior. She settled into a relationship with reality star JJ Slater, and seemed in the best place she had been for years. Even calling a public truce with Peter earlier this year.

Things seemed calm, and then Lee Andrews arrived in her life and the cycle continued. Katie married Lee – who the Mirror revealed has spent time in prison – earlier this year in a whirlwind romance, days after meeting for the first time.

Katie later said Lee had been ‘kidnapped’ before he confirmed he had ended up in prison in Dubai. He is believed to have a travel ban, preventing him from travelling to the UK.

“It’s literally one scandal after another scandal, and another one, and another one, and another one. Even till this day there is a scandal!” she says, “I didn’t ask for peace in my life, but come on. A girl needs a break sometimes.”
