Katie Price has revealed that she feared her mum, Amy, would die while filming the former model’s bombshell Sky documentary following years of ill health
Katie Price was worried her mum Amy would die while taking part in her Sky documentary. Price, 48, has shared new insight into her life in the spotlight in candid new series Katie Price: Nothing To Hide, which debuted on July 8.
Her mum, Amy, was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) back in 2017, suffering irreversible scarring of the lungs, meaning she finds it difficult to breathe. In 2023, Amy underwent a life-changing lung transplant, but despite this, she still continues to battle ill health.
In the latest episode of her podcast, The Katie Price Show, Katie opened up to her younger sister Sophie, as well as Nothing To Hide’s producer Laura Wadha and director Paddy Wiell about her fears over Amy’s health.
Speaking about crying at BAFTA Piccadilly, Katie said: “I cried because my mum was sitting there, fragile, because she made it. There were so many times we thought we were gonna lose mum through the filming.”
Sophie explained that at one point, she didn’t think Amy was “going to make it”. Katie added: “She just keeps battling through and I never thought she’d make the BAFTAs, none of us did.
“The fact she made it there was the best and it made me cry. See, I have got emotion.” It comes just days after Katie revealed that Amy had been admitted to hospital over her health.
Speaking at the launch of Nothing To Hide at the end of last month, the former model turned businesswoman told the audience at BAFTA: “She only got out of hospital five days ago and she’s been in there for weeks. And the fact you’re here looking gorgeous.”
However, Katie had to stop herself as she wiped her eyes, as she began to well up. Earlier this year, Katie expressed her relief and gratitude for Amy’s health, saying she hoped for “another year” with her mother.
In a YouTube video earlier this year, Katie said of Amy’s physical condition: “As you can all see, she is a lot more frail than she used to be.” She went on to add: “But don’t let that fool you because her head is still screwed on.”
Amy had initially been left struggling after her lung transplant and suffered issues when it came to walking. Katie said at the time: “I do feel you for you mum, because people have to understand what my mum’s gone through, like her brain is just so active and still switched on. She can’t do the things that she used to do, which is frustrating for her.
“Now here’s an example, because I am a patient person, but when my mother teases me and says let’s go look at the shops in the Isle of Wight, shall I take my walker or wheelchair, and I’m like ‘No, we’re taking your wheelchair because I’m not taking an hour.'”
