Katie Price’s life in the spotlight has been examined in her new documentary Katie Price Nothing To Hide and here are all the major bombshells that will happen in the upcoming Sky offering

She’s been married to four different men and engaged to another five. And now, Katie Price has revealed how her obsession with finding true love has ruled her life.

The headline-making star, 48, who is currently wed to “businessman” Lee Andrews, has filmed a new documentary called Katie Price: Nothing To Hide, where she reflects on her tumultuous career and personal life.

“When I’ve been in love I’ve been blind. I’ve always needed a man,” she says. “I’ve always been vulnerable and needy.”

The show looks at how Katie’s childhood was blighted by sexual abuse and her parents’ divorce, and how her glamour career then catapulted her to stardom. Along the way, her quest for The One became increasingly complex.

During her 30 years in the spotlight, Katie has always courted controversy, broadcasting every area of her life while pursuing men and money with equal determination. Ex-lovers Gary Bolingbroke, Dane Bowers, Gareth Gates and Alex Reid all appear in the four-part series, as do two of her oldest children, Junior and Princess Andre.

Of her early glamour career, when she adopted the name Jordan, Katie says: “I wanted people to want me. I wanted people to want to f**k me but the most powerful thing about it is they couldn’t touch me, it’s just a picture.”

As an adult, Katie has had therapy for her traumatic childhood, but acknowledges that sexual abuse changed her. Recalling how a paedophile attacked her aged seven in a park, Katie explains how some other children saved her.

“This boy and this girl walked past and they must have called the police,” she says. “The police were talking – I don’t know what they asked – but I remember they took my knickers. Through the years, there’s a picture of abuse by men against me, taking advantage of me from a young age.

“And each time a trauma happened, I think it affected me. I used to like dressing up and being looked at but not being touched. I was the one in control.”

For as long as she can remember, Katie has been looking for love. One of her first romances was with semi-professional footballer Gary, then a big noise in her hometown.

“At first everyone knew Katie as Gary Bolingbroke’s girlfriend, but as things progressed, it went the other way,” recalls Gary. “I wasn’t Gary Bolingbroke, I was Jordan’s fella. I knew it wasn’t going to last.”

The relationship came to an abrupt end when Katie began seeing footballer Teddy Sheringham in 1996 before she’d ended things with Gary. “I’d always fancied Teddy Sheringham so I thought f**k it,” she recalls. “I met Teddy at a hotel.”

The next day it was front page news. “[Gary] came round my mum’s house, saying, ‘What’s this in the paper!’” says Katie.

Her relationship with Teddy was short-lived and then she fell deeply in love with pop star Dane Bowers from the band Another Level.

“He might have been the tubby one, but looks aren’t everything,” says Katie in the documentary. “He was quite arrogant but very attentive to me and when we kissed, it was amazing. I loved Dane. I did.”

Dane agrees, “We were in love, 100%.” But he hated her glamour career. “I wasn’t equipped to deal with it,” he says. “I told her I didn’t want her to do topless any more. That was the undoing of us.”

For a while, Katie agreed to stop doing topless shoots, but then Dane released the hit song Out Of Your Mind with Victoria Beckham and Katie became consumed with jealousy after he cut her out of the promotional tour. In revenge, she did a topless calendar.

A furious Dane dumped her and Katie was so heartbroken, she attempted suicide. “He was done with me,” she says. “I cried so much and then he left the flat and I remember being on my own, devastated. Did I want to kill myself? No, but I thought by doing that he’d know how much I love him and I’d get him back. No, he still didn’t want to know.”

She started dating Manchester United footballer Dwight Yorke in the hope that the high-profile romance would hurt her ex, who was a Manchester United supporter. “It wasn’t love at all,” admits Katie. “It was massive revenge on Dane.”

But Dane still wanted nothing to do with her. And when Katie fell pregnant by Dwight with her eldest child Harvey, Dwight left her. Katie’s next romance was with Gareth Gates in 2002. Gareth, now 41, was just 17 at the time and had shot to fame on Pop Idol. Despite him spending years denying his relationship with Katie, he now admits it was serious between them and more than just a one-night stand despite Katie being pregnant at the time with Harvey.

“I certainly did love her,” says Gareth. “To be in love… I think I was too young. I think Katie was more vocal about that than I was. I certainly think she was in love with me. It was very quick, literally weeks, and she’d mentioned marriage and spending the rest of her life with me.”

However, when their relationship was revealed by the media, a terrified Gareth denied it, leaving Katie hurt. A few months later, she gave an interview to a tabloid newspaper, claiming that their sex life had cured Gareth of his famous stammer. Katie now regrets revealing details of their love life but says she was motivated by revenge.

“That was a moment I wish I never did,” she admits in the documentary. “I shouldn’t have gone into detail about it, but I did.”

Katie’s next relationship was with Peter Andre, who she met on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2004. “Meeting Pete and being with Pete were the best times of my life without a doubt,” she says.

The pair married in 2005 and had two children, Junior and Princess, together but in September 2009 Pete divorced her.

In recent years, Katie says she’s had therapy and is now in a good place. However, fans are worried about her rocky new marriage and her plummeting weight. In the documentary, Katie acknowledges that she’s a “stick insect” and says she’s never been able to enjoy her appearance despite her multiple cosmetic surgeries.

“I’ve had therapy and done a lot of work to deal with traumatic situations,” she says. “I wanted this documentary to be real and authentic, so some of the places they took me back to meant I had to put myself back into those situations. I found a lot of that difficult. My brain would go fuzzy because I didn’t want to think about how I felt then. Believe it or not, there’s still a very vulnerable, shy person in me.”

Katie has been diagnosed with ADHD and says she’s finally learning how to curb her impulses – up to a point. “I’ve learned to control those impulsive tendencies to a degree, but you can’t change who I am,” she says. “I’m one of a kind.”
