Katie Price has sparked concern amongst her fans after she took to social media in the early hours of the morning, revealing that she had some ‘devastating news’

Katie Price has been dealt some “devastating news”. The former glamour model has sparked concern among her online fans after taking to social media in the early hours of Thursday morning to share an update.

The TV star, 48, is no stranger to sharing her personal life on social media, and her latest update is certainly no different. But while the details surrounding the sad news remain unclear, Katie made sure to tell fans that it didn’t involve her mum, Amy.

Amy, who has been battling ill health in recent years, was given just days to live earlier this month. Amy has been battling the lung condition Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, with Katie updating her followers, saying that she had been “very poorly.”

Writing on her Instagram Stories not long after midnight, Katie said: “Had devastating news tonight [broken heart and crying emojis]. Love, health and family is so important.

“Cherish every moment with love ones and build memories. And no it’s not my mum [praying emoji].” Earlier this month, while testifying in court, Katie said: “My mum’s dying at the moment and I haven’t been able to see her [because] I’ve got a cold… She’s got days.”

Amy was diagnosed with IPF in 2017. According to the NHS, it is “a rare condition where your lungs become scarred, making it harder to breathe”. The health organisation says there’s currently no cure, but treatments are available to help manage the symptoms.

Doctors had warned at the time of diagnosis that Amy had less than five years left to live. Last month, Katie admitted her fears that her terminally ill mother is “taking a turn” for the worse.

Speaking to sister Sophie on their podcast, Katie said the family was taking it “day by day” as they didn’t know what would happen with their mum’s health.

She said: “At the moment, we’re playing it day by day with Mum,” she said. “We’re all juggling, depends how my mum is each day to what we do. Obviously if Mum takes a turn, Mum’s more important than anything.”

Sophie went on to say her sister’s support is “going to go” when her mum passes. She added to her sister that “the person you support is going to…”, trailing off before she had to finish the sentence.

Both Sophie and Katie said that they had been spending a significant amount of time with Amy at the hospital, with Katie explaining that the family had been “trying hard” to care for her. Sophie, however, got additional “brownie points,” as she had been present at the hospital more than Katie had.

Katie said that she would go to the hospital more, but struggled to as she had to work and take care of her eldest son, Harvey, who has Prader-Willi syndrome, autism, and septo-optic dysplasia.

She said on the podcast: “When I’ve got Harv, and I haven’t got carers or anything every day – only a Monday and a Friday I get help -and it’s hard to bring Harv. I’ve got to work, and I can’t work if I’ve got Harv. It’s just everything is a right juggle at the minute.”
