Stronger singer, Kelly Clarkson, has claimed that a shop assistant treated her like Julia Roberts’ Vivian in Pretty Woman when she wanted to try on some expensive gear
Kelly Clarkson has been left enraged after her latest shopping trip. The Voice coach, 44, was having a spot of retail therapy in an upmarket clothes shop when she claims she was treated poorly by a sales assistant.
Taking to social media, the singer says she simply wanted to try on some items in the store because it looked “rad”, but was subsequently left humiliated when she was ‘looked at like she couldn’t afford it’.
Describing the toe-curling scene, Kelly likened the experience to that of Julia Roberts’ character, Vivian, who is told in no uncertain terms to sling her hook after she goes into a posh frock shop – wearing her stripper boots – in the iconic film Pretty Woman.

Recalling her awkward experience, Kelly wrote: “Just drove all the way to Brooklyn to check out this store I thought looked really rad and had a few things in mind to buy and literally was looked at as if I couldn’t afford it and was told he could find something comparable for me.”
She continued: “Wow, dude. You’re an idiot and just lost a huge sale,” she continued, before naming the store. She then told her fans to visit the store “if you enjoy being treated like Julia Roberts’ character in Pretty Woman, adding, “For sure, check it out”.
In the iconic romcom, Julia, who plays sex worker Vivian, falls in love with Richard Gere’s Edward, but is left red-faced after an uptight shop assistant tells her she can’t afford to try on the clothes in the store on Rodeo Drive.
However, when Vivian, now dressed in all her finery, returns to the store, laden with shopping bags, she tells the same assistant: “Big mistake. Huge!”
After sharing her post, Kelly’s fans flocked to the comments section to support her, with one fired-up stan posting a snap of herself holding up a poster, which read: “Kelly Clarkson army rise up!”
Kelly, who shot to fame on American Idol, isn’t afraid to speak her mind. Back in July, she compared herself to Bad Blood millionaire, Taylor Swift, during her Las Vegas residency.
On the second night of performance, she addressed the crowd, saying: “You asked, ‘Do you like performing live or do you like performing in a studio?’ I like both. They’re very different. But I kind of want to bring that vibe.
“When you go see shows now — I’m not downing any shows, it’s for obvious reasons, especially when you’re travelling and touring — usually you can’t take so many musicians, right?”
Kelly then humbly smiled before noting: “Unless you’re Taylor Swift.” As the audience whooped and cheered, the star continued: “But when you’re not her, when you’re ballin’ on a budget, you get something cool like this,” she added, gesturing around the 4,174-seat Colosseum Theatre inside the famous Caesar’s Palace.
