A year on from the heartbreaking stillbirth of her son Phoenix, Kelsey Parker has announced she is pregnant again with a ‘rainbow baby’
Kelsey Parker has announced she is pregnant again with a ‘rainbow baby’ weeks after sharing her hopes to have more children with partner Will Lindsay following her devastating miscarriage a year ago.
The 36-year-old is already mum to daughter Aurelia, five, and four-year-old son Bodhi, who she shares with her late husband, The Wanted singer Tom Parker. Tragically, Tom died from an inoperable brain tumour in March 2022 at the age of just 33.
She found happiness again with new man Will, whom she has been dating since September 2024. And the pair announced they were expecting their first child together in January 2025.
But in June that year, Kelsey shared the heartbreaking news that their baby boy, who they had already named Phoenix, was stillborn at 39 weeks, compounding an already devastating few years of loss.
Speaking to the Mirror as she prepared to mark a year since Phoenix passed, Kelsey shared her hopes to extend her family in the future and said: “We would love to have more. The children wanted Phoenix so badly, and it was going to be the light at the end of our tunnel… but it’s not actually happened that way for us. I do think the children would definitely want a sibling.”
In the interview earlier this month Kelsey spoke about how she was “doing better”. She continued: “All you can do is look forward. Last year was really tough, but I’m still here, I’m still living. I still have two healthy children, so I think you can only move forward and look forward.”
Now it seems Kelsey could have already been pregnant at the time she gave the interview, but understandably was choosing to keep the news private until her first scan.
Sharing their happy news on Instagram, Will and Kelsey posted a sweet video of their hands – including Aurelia and Bodhi’s – parting to reveal a picture of the scan.
Alongside the post, Kelsey wrote: “A year ago next month, we lost our beautiful baby boy, Phoenix. And somehow, through all the heartbreak, it feels like Tom and Phoenix have sent us another little gift from heaven – our little rainbow baby.”
It comes after Kelsey went on Good Morning Britain last week to talk about how she was treated after losing baby Phoenix. She told hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls that she went into natural labour at home and gave birth in seven minutes.
But she said her and partner Will knew “straight away” that he was “born sleeping”. However when the paramedics arrived, they called the police, who she says “treated her like a criminal.”
She recalled: “We called the ambulance straight away, it took five minutes to come. It was like I was in a film. They came in and took him from me. I only got to hold him for five minutes. They then called the police. The police arrived – they said it was a crime scene.”
Kelsey added that she had to ask the paramedics and police to “calm down” because her other two children were in the room. “Because there was no one present, no midwife, there was no handover. It was awful. My children were there and because they’ve been through so much, I was like: ‘Can we just calm down’.”
After being taken to hospital, Kelsey told how she was put in the maternity ward with other mothers who were delivering children that weren’t stillborn, despite pleading not to be. She said that this was against protocol and made worse by a police presence.
“I had a police officer outside the hospital room,” she revealed. Susanna then pointed out that Kelsey had wanted the birth to be filmed and that video then became her proof that she hadn’t done something to the baby, which she revealed became her “evidence”.
“The hospital said: ‘I’m really sorry but the paramedics had never seen a stillborn baby before’. I said, ‘That’s not my problem. I’m never going to get that time back ever. You stripped everything from me.’ The police took his blankets, everything,” she added.
The Met Police have since apologised for how Kelsey was treated and said “learning has been implemented to prevent this happening again”. A hospital spokesperson said: “We are not able to comment on individual cases, but we would like to extend our deepest sympathies once again to Kelsey and her family for their loss.”
