Thiruvananthapuram: The Keralam government has raised the vehicle tax exemption limit for persons with disabilities from Rs 7 lakh to Rs 15 lakh. The exemption applies to vehicles purchased by persons with multiple disabilities, including autism, cerebral palsy and intellectual disabilities, state Transport Minister C P John has said in a statement.
Earlier, motor vehicle tax exemption was available for vehicles with a purchase value of up to Rs 7 lakh.
The revised limit was announced in the state’s revised Budget speech for 2026-27, he said.
As part of implementing the Budget announcement, the government has amended the Kerala Motor Vehicles Taxation Act and issued a fresh notification revising the 2022 order, the minister said.
