Hyderabad: Union minister G. Kishan Reddy confirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Telangana on May 10, marking his first official trip to the state since assuming office for a third term. Modi will also address a public rally at the Secunderabad Parade Ground. Kishan Reddy urged citizens to attend in large numbers.

During the visit, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for development projects worth Rs 7,000 crore, including the modernisation of railway stations, expansion of national highways, and the prestigious Zaheerabad industrial corridor. The corridor is expected to generate employment opportunities for thousands of youth in the region.

Speaking earlier at the concluding ceremony of Ambedkar jayanti celebrations in Somajiguda, Kishan Reddy accused the Congress of obstructing the women’s reservation Bill and undermining Dr B.R. Ambedkar’s ideals. He alleged that Congress had done injustice to women and Dalit communities by blocking their entry into legislative bodies for decades, and criticised the BRS for misleading the public on the issue.

He said constitutional amendments could have increased the number of SC‑reserved parliamentary constituencies from 84 to over 140. He dismissed claims by leaders including Rahul Gandhi and Chief Ministers Revanth Reddy and M.K. Stalin on delimitation as “foolish propaganda,” and reaffirmed that Modi was committed to proportionate representation across all states. Kishan Reddy also highlighted that while Congress ignored Backward Classes during its decades in power, Modi had initiated a BC census.

Earlier in the day, Kishan Reddy, along with Union minister of state for home Bandi Sanjay Kumar and party president N. Ramchander Rao, watched the Prime Minister’s Mann Ki Baat broadcast.

Congress is anti-Dalit, anti-women: Bandi

Hyderabad: Union minister of state for home affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar launched a sharp attack on Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, accusing the party of being historically hostile to B.R. Ambedkar and women’s empowerment. He was speaking at Ambedkar Jayanti celebrations organised by the BJP’s Hyderabad Central unit.

The minister alleged that Congress repeatedly insulted Dr Ambedkar, citing claims that the party denied him burial space in Delhi and demanded flight charges for transporting his mortal remains. He further accused Congress of conspiring to ensure Dr Ambedkar’s electoral defeat, noting that the candidate who defeated him was later awarded the Padma Bhushan. He contrasted this with the BJP’s efforts to honour Ambedkar’s legacy by developing the “Panch Teerth” sites and promoting his ideals.

Sanjay dismissed Revanth Reddy’s proposal to base Lok Sabha seat delimitation on state GDP as “senseless,” arguing that it would centralise political power in urban hubs while eliminating representation for smaller regions. He claimed the move was intended to undermine Rahul Gandhi’s position within the party.

The minister emphasised that the BJP remained the only national party actively working to implement Ambedkar’s vision through welfare schemes, including financial support for SC/ST entrepreneurs, affordable housing, and healthcare access, which he described as the practical application of Ambedkar’s constitutional goals.
