The betting public is all over the Knicks in Game 5 of the NBA Finals.

With one day until Saturday’s action in San Antonio, about 80 percent of the bets and 70 percent of the money at BetMGM Sportsbook have come in on the Knicks to close out the series and win their first title since 1973.

As a 5.5-point underdog, the Knicks have attracted 71 percent of the bets and 78 percent of the money to cover the spread.

Mike Brown’s squad continues to be a darling to sports bettors who are gambling on a series winner, with 67 percent of the money thus far going toward the Knicks to win the series.

It’s been the same story throughout these Finals.

In the days leading up to Game 3, the volume of money that had come in on the Knicks to win the Larry O’Brien trophy had been so high that New York winning had gone from the preferred outcome for BetMGM to a huge liability.

“There has been so much money on [the Knicks] since the start of the Finals that the book is hoping the Spurs can rally to win the title,” BetMGM’s John Ewing stated on social media after the Knicks went up 2-0.

The Knicks came into the series as an underdog, but now find themselves in the driver’s seat after an insane comeback win in Game 4.

With three more chances to get their fourth win of the series, the Knicks are a massive -550 favorite in the series.

Betting on the NBA?

Entering the postseason, the Knicks were 22/1 to win the championship.

If they’re able to get it done, they would be the biggest pre-playoff long shot to win the title in NBA history.
