NALGONDA: Roads and buildings minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Monday said road projects being taken up under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) at a cost of ₹13,000 crore would boost development in both urban and rural areas of Telangana.
Speaking at a programme in Nalgonda, he said improved road connectivity would facilitate industrial growth and generate employment opportunities.
He said that during his tenure, funds amounting to ₹7,110 crore had been secured under plan and non-plan heads for road development. He added that ₹1,900 crore had been sanctioned under the Central Road Infrastructure Fund for junctions and cement concrete roads after discussions with Union minister Nitin Gadkari, and that efforts were underway to secure an additional ₹1,000 crore.
The minister said tenders had been called for the ₹11,000 crore Regional Ring Road project, while road works worth ₹26,000 crore were being taken up by the department.
He said the Detailed Project Report for the Hyderabad-Amaravati greenfield highway had been finalised and the project was at the tender stage.
He added that construction of a 52-km elevated corridor between Mannanur and Srisailam would be launched soon.
At the event, the minister announced financial assistance of ₹50,000 to a family from Munugode constituency for setting up a kirana shop.
