Bayern are still targeting glory on two other fronts.

Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany made it clear his side are from finished after they retained the Bundesliga title with a 4-2 win over Stuttgart.

Kompany’s men came from behind to clinch the title on Sunday after Chris Fuhrich had given Stuttgart a first-half lead. Raphael Guerreiro, Nicolas Jackson and Alphonso Davies had Bayern in command by half-time, before Harry Kane made it 4-1 prior to a late consolation for Champions League chasing Stuttgart.

The win left Bayern 15 points clear of nearest challengers Borussia Dortmund with only four games available.

Bayern will now have to turn their attention to the semi-final of the DFB-Pokal against Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday. Die Roten are also through to the last four of the Champions League, in which they face holders Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg a week on Tuesday.

Bayern far from finished

Only twice before have Bayern completed the treble, doing so under Jupp Heynckes in 2012-13 and in 2019-20 with Hansi Flick at the helm.

And Kompany pointed to Bayern’s intensity, unity and belief as key factors that will help them as they bid to complete that feat.

“It’s a wonderful feeling – for me, every new title counts like the first,” Kompany said after clinching the Bundesliga.

“There is a lot of work behind this title, so when you succeed, you have to enjoy it.

“I have a lot of emotions inside me, and they come out in moments like today. We will enjoy this – nothing else matters to me today.

“The season is not over yet. We will keep pushing at full intensity and use our entire squad in the remaining matches.

“The story doesn’t end after one season – it always continues.

“We always had the feeling that we could win every game. That was the case again today, even when Stuttgart took the lead.

“We are still in every competition, we have hardly lost, and we have had almost only positive experiences.

“In the coming weeks, anything can happen, but what matters is that we believe in ourselves and that we can achieve everything together.”
