Recently, the actress shared insights into her 13-year marriage to Dax Shepard and the challenges of parenting. Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard share a kind of relationship that many might find weird or unusual. From complimenting other women in front of his wife to flirt with her in a roundabout way to thinking one-night stands are okay, they have shared several debatable stories about their dynamics. During her chat with The Sun regarding infidelity, Kristen shared that she doesn’t care if Dax ever slept with somebody else.
Kristen explained that she and Dax were married and had confidence in their bond, so they weren’t bothered if they had one-night stands with other people. She added that they feel attraction towards others, just like any normal human being. She considered it a privilege to have a strong and unbreakable bond that wouldn’t be strained even if they ended up being physically unfaithful. In her words:
“Kind of who cares, to be honest? I also know we’re monkeys. We’re both attracted to other people. We’re married. We’re not dead. But I don’t know that everyone has the privilege of this much confidence in their relationship.”
Kristen Stewart told Men’s Journal in 2019 that she and Dax thought monogamy wasn’t for them, because such a relationship takes a lot of effort to maintain. She added that Dax Shepard has always been open about what he wants from their relationship, and that if they weren’t on the same page, they would have gotten distant. She stated:
“I’m quite positive we are not meant to be monogamous. It’s difficult, and it requires a lot of attention, vulnerability, and openness. He’s very open about what he needs to stay satisfied in our relationship, because if one partner isn’t satisfied, you just kiss it goodbye; somebody’s going to stray.”
Despite initially thinking they wouldn’t be able to remain monogamous, Dax later told Drew Barrymore on her talk show in 2024 that they ultimately made it work and were happy with each other. At that time, gossip mills were running that Dax and Kristen were ‘Hollywood swingers,’ which he denied. However, he admitted that there was ‘a ton of jealousy’ between him and his wife initially, as he had been in an ‘open relationship for nine years’ and was ‘blacked out a big chunk of my life.’

During an appearance on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast, Kristen Bell revealed that when the couple is out for dinner, Dax does a couple of things that make her feel like he is the best boy. The Nobody Wants This actress shared that he flirts with her by complimenting other people.
As per Kristen, Shepard would tell the waitress, “Wow, you have incredible eyelashes, gorgeous eyes. Great, great job.” After revealing her husband’s peculiar trait, Bell shared that when he compliments someone and makes them feel good, she knows he is flirting with her. On the other hand, Shepard shared the physical attributes of others that he never compliments, and lips come under it, as he said, “I don’t do lips. That’s crazy.
Later in their conversation, Kristen also revealed that although Shepard compliments others, he never crosses the line or makes anyone feel uncomfortable. Bell also insisted that his ways often flatter her. Elaborating on the same, “That’s why it gives me butterflies because everyone saw it.”
