KSI, Britain’s Got Talent Judge, Sparks Outrage With His Vile Joke About ‘Hitting Pregnant Woman’

Britain’s Got Talent judge, KSI, who is 32-year-old YouTuber, found himself in the midst of a controversy after an old video resurfaced. The clip had been posted by YouTuber years ago on his YouTube channel. He received major backlash from viewers and campaigners. Later, KSI stated that he was joking about it. 

As KSI’s video has resurfaced on the internet, the incident has reignited the discussion about influencers and public figures, accountability, while making any statement in the public domain, and the impression it leaves on the world.

KSI joked about hitting any woman he got pregnant

The controversy started with a video from 2017, in which KSI quipped that if a woman became pregnant by him, he would punch the baby. The video has been viewed more than 15 million times, and he addressed details about his intimate life. At one point, his mum, Yinka Olatunji, urged him to always use a condom, and he quickly replied:

“If she gets pregnant I’ll just punch the baby.”

However, his mother quickly corrected him not to say something like that. However, the influencer quickly clarified that he was kidding and he won’t do that. However, domestic violence charity Women’s Aid, Veronica Oakeshott, claimed that comments like these are not acceptable, even if they are said as a joke. She added that pregnant women are more likely to experience domestic abuse. She stated that such jokes show a criminal mindset. She said:

“Comments like this are never acceptable to make, even if it is meant as a joke. It’s a sad truth that pregnant women are even more likely than other women to experience domestic abuse. Such ‘jokes’ make this kind of criminal behaviour, which women do experience, seem less serious, and indeed life-threatening, than it is.”

KSI’s response to the resurfaced clip

However, sources close to KSI revealed that he regrets the comment he made in the old YouTube video. He described the remark as stupid and wrong. He further added that the video was a decade old and it doesn’t reflect who we are today. After the backlash and controversies, the video was removed. The source was quoted as saying:

“The video dates back nearly a decade and like many people — as they have grown older — KSI looks back on that time with deep regret and recognises his language was both stupid and wrong. KSI has grown and matured significantly since then, and those words do not reflect whatsoever who he is today and the values he holds.”

It is worth mentioning that backlash came while he was serving as a judge on Britain’s Got Talent, which is considered the UK’s most popular TV show. It is worth mentioning that this is not the first time KSI’s name has been linked to controversy. For the unversed, his real name is Olajide Olayinka Williams Olatunji. In 2023, he apologised for a racial slut he made against people of South Asian origin.

He apologised for the same. Two years before, KSI apologised for passing transgender slurs. In 2013, he was accused of trivialising rape in his video, which made lewd remarks about women.  For the unversed, KSI has an estimated net worth of 21 million pounds. Currently, he is part of the judging panel with Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon on Britain’s Got Talent.
