Kurnool Tragedy: Victims Identified in Mantralayam Road Accident

Kurnool/Amaravati: The identities of the eight victims who lost their lives in the tragic road accident near Chilakaladona in Mantralayam mandal of Kurnool district have been confirmed, even as the incident continues to draw widespread grief.

The deceased were identified as Kumar (60), Deepika Veena (35), Sunil (40), Belli (3), Puttamma (60), Meenakshi (50), Thayamma (60), and Lolakshi. All of them were part of a group of pilgrims from Karnataka’s Chikkamagaluru district travelling to Mantralayam for the darshan of Sri Raghavendra Swamy.

The accident occurred in the early hours of Thursday when the Bolero vehicle they were travelling in collided with a ready-mix lorry on a national highway. Eight people died in the mishap, while several others sustained injuries and are undergoing treatment.

Earlier, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and several ministers expressed shock over the incident, directing officials to ensure the best possible medical care for the injured and extending condolences to the bereaved families.

Police have taken up investigation into the cause of the accident.
