LaMelo Ball is one of the biggest names in the NBA right now.

The Minnesota Timberwolves superstar is one of the best in the business, but he had to work very hard to get to the position he is in right now.

That included a spell playing in Australia, which prompted a joke from comedian Hasan Minhaj a little over seven years ago.

Ball has now fired back perfectly.

As a teenager, before entering the NBA Draft, Ball decided against taking the traditional US college path and chose to play overseas instead.

In 2019, the point guard joined the Illawarra Hawks in Australia’s National Basketball League (NBL) as part of their “Next Stars” program.

At the NBA Awards that year, Minhaj took a shot at Ball for his decision to go down under and claimed that he would never play in America’s top league.

He said: “Past two months, AD got traded, Zion went first, and LaMelo Ball got shipped to boarding school in Australia. I can say that joke – neither of us will ever make the NBA.”

Ball hasn’t just made the NBA since, but he has become an absolute superstar for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Now, the 25-year-old posted a video on Instagram, which starts with footage of Minhaj making that joke about him seven years ago.

The video then immediately cuts to a compilation of Ball tearing it up for the Timberwolves this season, showing how far he has come since Minhaj’s jibe.

That is a perfect response from Ball, who has proven a lot of people wrong over the years to become the superstar he is today.
