18-year-old phenom Lamine Yamal will have to perform up to his standards if Spain is to win the 2026 World Cup.
But winning the World Cup isn’t on his mind right now, as he and his Spanish squad have to get past Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal in the Round of 16 on July 6 first.
These two sides seem to be evenly matched, and the game’s outcome might depend on whether Yamal or Ronaldo gets more support from their teammates.
Yamal has a lot of support in his personal life, as his girlfriend, Ines Garcia, has been with him throughout this World Cup run in the United States. She showed proof of this with a July 5 Instagram post that showed many photos of her at the beach in Los Angeles.
The post is captioned, “LA 🇺🇸✨🤞🏾🩵🥹🎡🤎,” and Garcia is wearing a denim outfit in many of them.
This post clearly got Yamal’s attention, as he has the top comment on Garcia’s post. It simply wrote, “bombón”, which is a Spanish slang term that roughly translates to, “cutie”.
Given that Monday’s Portugal vs. Spain game is at AT&T Stadium in Texas, one would assume that Garcia made the trip to Texas from Los Angeles so that she can see her boyfriend take on Portugal in person.
She had to return to her home country of Spain for Yamal’s final group stage game but quickly returned to the United States to support him in person. And she most likely will be there for Spain’s entire World Cup run, regardless of how long they’re in the tournament for.
