Manoj Bajpayee, Boman Irani and Divya Dutta are set to headline Last Man in Tower, a drama that revolves around a retired teacher who takes a stand against his entire housing society to protect the home he has lived in for years. Based on Aravind Adiga’s novel of the same name, the film will premiere on ZEE5 on November 6, 2026.
Produced by Rana Daggubati and directed by Ben Rekhi, the film is set against the backdrop of Mumbai’s changing urban landscape. It explores the emotional connection people share with their homes and the difficult choices that come with redevelopment. At its heart, the story examines the conflict between individual beliefs and the aspirations of an entire community.
Manoj Bajpayee plays Yogesh Mishra, a retired physics teacher living in an ageing Mumbai housing society. When the residents agree to a lucrative redevelopment proposal, Yogesh becomes the only person unwilling to give up his apartment. While his neighbours see the deal as an opportunity for a better future, he remains determined to hold on to his home and the memories associated with it.
His decision gradually puts him at odds with the people he has shared his life with. What begins as a disagreement over redevelopment soon develops into a larger conflict, with Yogesh finding himself isolated from a community he once considered his own.
Speaking about his role, Manoj Bajpayee said, “What drew me to Last Man in Tower was the complexity of Yogesh Mishra. He is a man who stands firmly by his beliefs, yet the story leaves you questioning whether he is right or wrong. As an actor, I found that ambiguity fascinating because it allowed me to explore the many layers of a character who is stubborn, vulnerable and deeply attached to his home and the memories it holds.”
