Last Post Of Victim Killed By A Tiger At Yorkshire Wildlife Park Goes Viral, Identity Revealed

The Yorkshire Wildlife Park incident has been making headlines for some time now. For the unversed, on October 10, 2026, a man was killed by a tiger named Altai, a Siberian tiger at Yorkshire Wildlife Park. According to reports, the victim jumped about 12ft to reach the tiger’s enclosure. A mother of two children tried to pull the victim back onto the bridge, but she was not that strong.

The man reportedly overpowered the older woman and entered the tiger’s enclosure. Now, his identity has been revealed, and his last Instagram post has gone viral.

Meet the victim who was killed by the tiger Altai at Yorkshire Wildlife Park

According to multiple reports, the victim who was killed by the tiger Altai at Yorkshire Wildlife Park was William Chapman. William, who was believed to be in his 20s, was described as vulnerable by police. It is thought that the victim had been living in Doncaster around the time of the incident.

Hours before the incident, William shared a picture of himself sitting with a Bible and a crossbow, a bolt between his teeth, wearing the same tracksuit he later wore in the park. Chapman’s last post on Instagram was reportedly a video from inside the tiger’s enclosure.

It was a short clip showing the victim walking towards the tiger named Altai. The tiger was resting on a raised wooden platform. Heavy breathing was heard in the audio before the video ended. It is worth noting that the account believed to be of William Chapman, from which the video was posted, has been deactivated or deleted. He had also shared a selfie taken at the gym, which he uploaded to social media hours before sharing the video.

More about the harrowing incident

According to a visitor, Chapman was ‘dancing erratically’ earlier in the day before he reportedly climbed into the tiger’s enclosure despite other visitors’ desperate attempts to pull him back. The visitor told The Telegraph that Chapman overpowered the mom, who was there at the park with her children, and jumped into the tiger’s enclosure.

The visitor added that the woman seemed really frightened over the incident. Several pieces of footage of the harrowing incident went viral on social media. In one of the videos, Chapman was heard yelling ‘no’ and ‘stop’ repeatedly at Altai as the fully grown tiger lunged at him in front of horrified families and children. Another witness shared they could see blood as the tiger started dragging the man by his neck.

Paramedics arrived at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park shortly after 1:30 p.m. However, Chapman was declared dead at the scene. Emergency workers set up a black screen around the tiger’s enclosure to stop people from seeing the disturbing scene while they tried to treat the injured man. Zookeepers also tried to save Chapman by using acoustic devices to make five loud noises near the tiger, Altai. They believed the sounds would distract the mammal and make it move away from the man.

On October 12, 2026, a South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said that Chapman was not accompanied by anyone in the Yorkshire Wildlife Park. A health and safety investigation has now been launched, with City of Doncaster Council leading the probe. William’s death was both shocking and heartbreaking. The harrowing incident has also left people concerned about the tiger named Altai.

Some were also worried whether Altai would be euthanized. On October 11, 2026, Yorkshire Wildlife Park authorities confirmed that the Siberian tiger would not be put down. They said:

“Many, many people have contacted us about Altai, the tiger. We can reassure everyone that he is safe and well and will not be euthanized as a result of this incident.”

Rest in peace, William Chapman. We offer our heartfelt condolences to his family.
