The Chicago Bears saw their season flash before their eyes on Sunday afternoon, after star quarterback Caleb Williams went down with a non-contact injury.

Williams suffered a hamstring injury and was carted back to the locker room, though no official word has come from the team on the severity of his injury. We will learn that information in the coming days after the Bears star undergoes further testing.

Williams was spotted in the locker room after the game walking under his own power and without crutches. That was immediately a positive sign for the team.

Then, during Football Night in America ahead of Sunday Night Football between the Indianapolis Colts and Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead stadium, NFL insider Mike Florio provided an update that will have the Chicago faithful breathing a sigh of relief.

“It looked bad, but I’m told that there is optimism that it is not a severe injury,” Florio said ahead of Sunday Night Football. “It could be as slight as a grade one. That’s the lowest level hamstring injury, but they’ll know more tomorrow when they do the MRI. I’m told that Caleb is in good spirits to attack the recovery, whatever it may be.

“He had a left hamstring injury, the other leg, at USC, so he’s been through this before. The Bears host the Eagles next Monday night. It’s Tyson Bagent if Caleb Williams can’t go.”

The extra day of rest that comes with the Monday Night Football game could be a blessing for Williams and the Bears, giving him one more day to recover.

We will learn more in the coming days, but for now, it appears that the Bears have avoided a major disaster.
