Lena Dunham loved her 2018 stint in rehab because it was a much-needed break after her five-year run on “Girls.”

“I really did [love it] because I hadn’t slowed down in such a long time,” the actress, who entered a program for her addiction to prescription pills after her hysterectomy, exclusively told The Post while promoting her latest book, “Famesick.”

“I hadn’t even taken multiple days to recover from surgery, much less multiple days to recover [from] what was happening emotionally,” she added, referring to the breakneck pace of writing and starring in the HBO series, which ran from 2012 to 2017.

That included being rushed back to set after undergoing numerous health issues and surgeries and experiencing deaths in her family.

The “Tiny Furniture” star explained that being in the rehab facility, located in the Berkshires, was special.

“To have that kind of prolonged quiet in that space was magic, and then you also meet other people who you connect with and who you have things in common with and understand you in a way that maybe even the people in your life don’t understand you.”

Dunham entered rehab due to an addiction to Klonopin, an anti-anxiety medication prescribed by her doctor.

She noted that her addiction is “the story of America, the story of overprescription and underwarning,” before being careful to take responsibility for her actions.

“That isn’t to say you don’t play a part in your own addiction,” she shared, “there are plenty of people who are prescribed necessary opiates who never develop a dependence on them, but there are also a lot of people who do.”

In 2023, she celebrated five years of sobriety, calling them “the happiest of my time on earth.”

Dunham also wrote in the book about her time on “Girls,” including interactions with co-star Adam Driver, who she says was “spectacularly rude” on set, alleging that he once hurled a chair at the wall next to her and screamed in her face.

She also opened up about her relationship with musician Jack Antanoff, 42, whom she dated from 2012 to 2017.
