The official trailer for Lenin is out now. This village romance-action-drama stars Akhil Akkineni in the role of a rugged, probably quite naive, Rayalaseema youth. Directed by Murali Kishore Abburu, who is helming his second feature, the film is gearing up for a grand theatrical release on July 10. The trailer marks a strong return for the actor after a three-year hiatus.

High-stakes conflicts
The trailer immediately introduces a premise rooted in family feuds and religious traditions in a Chittoor village named Srirama Puram. The villagers worship Draupadamma, a local deity. According to their sacred custom, not a single drop of blood must be spilled on the village’s soil. This peaceful rule sets the stage for high-stakes conflicts.
Mythological allegories form the crux of the narrative. The trailer features several references to the Mahabharata. Audiences hear mentions of Vishwaroopam, Dharmaraju, and Kurukshetra. Akkineni Nagarjuna, the hero’s father and one of the film’s producers, delivers a striking voiceover, stating that this is their Mahabharatam. The intense family rivalries mirroring the epic are likely to be the film’s USP. Is a shattering interval block in store?

Dramatic action, moody score
Bhagyashri Borse plays the female lead. She portrays a stage artist whom the hero doesn’t trust at first. The action sequences look meticulously designed. Top stunt masters Dhilip Subbarayan, Ram-Lakshman, Vijay, and Real Sathish have choreographed the fights. Music composer Thaman S appears to have delivered a moody and impactful background score, going by the trailer.
At the trailer launch event, Akhil expressed his deep gratitude to his fans. He apologized for his long absence from cinema following the release of Agent in 2023. He said he would let his work do the talking this time. Audiences feel the film looks massy and emotionally rooted. Lenin also features Sivaji, Sunil, and Eeswari Rao.
