Kate Cassidy, Liam Payne’s ex-girlfriend, is facing backlash after posting a blood-covered Halloween costume just weeks after the One Direction singer’s birthday
Kate Cassidy, Liam Payne’s ex girlfriend, is being slammed for her ‘insensitive’ post just weeks after the One Direction star’s birthday.
The former One Direction star died in a tragic incident in Argentina in October 2024, just days after his partner Kate had returned to the States.
Back in August, on what would have been Liam’s 33rd birthday, Kate continued to pay tribute to her late partner, and made sure to celebrate his birthday at one of his favourite restaurants with one of his go-to orders.
Posting her trip to Applebees on Instagram , she showed herself tucking into the Strip That Down singer’s traditional choice of cheeseburger.
Now, the star has completely raged fans after she posted a picture of herself covered in blood for Halloween, wearing nothing but a black leotard. Captioning the image on Instagram, she said: “and she died of a broken heart” with a broken heart emoji.
Fans were quick to rush to her comments to call her “seriously sick”.
One commented: “What an insensitive caption”
Another said: “What the hell is this!!! Seriously sick. What is it with celebs covering themselves in blood. Some sort of sacrifice thing or what!”
A third commented: “Wow. This is distasteful beyond any level of marking just how distasteful it is. Talk about going from grieving someone you ‘loved’ and ‘adored’ to making a sick video with vile background music and trying to make it look sexual ~ no girl…. NO”
A fourth said: “So disrespectful to Liam this is discusting”
Others said: “May be worded poorly but it was the first thing I thought too. This isn’t cute or funny. It’s just tacky and disrespectful.”
Another fan pointed out: “This next to the pic of Liam on your grid is really insenstive”
One fan commented: “I know it’s halloween soon, but same time your partners anniversary of their death wasn’t long ago.”
Liam and Kate dated for two years until Liam’s tragic death at the age of 31 in October 2024.
Last month, Kate told her followers as she remembered Liam on what would have been his 33rd birthday: “One of Liam’s favourite restaurants was Applebees. This was Liam’s go-to burger, the cheeseburger.” She was also seen blowing out a candle on a cake to mark the special occasion.
Kate wrote: “Reminder you don’t have to stop celebrating someone’s birthday just because they’re no longer here.” She went on to add in the post’s caption: “Happy 33 Liam,” followed by a heart.
She also uploaded polaroids of the pair and wrote: “Your birthday will always be your day. loving you, remembering you, missing you always. happy birthday Liam.”
