A man has been left with potentially life-long injuries after an alleged attack outside a western Sydney restaurant, as police release CCTV footage in the hope it can help break open their investigation.
A 24-year-old man was with a group in the car park of a McDonald’s on Mulgoa Road, Penrith when they were approached by three men allegedly armed with machetes about 3.15am on March 22.
Police say he was struck twice in the face with a broken bottle and then punched, leaving a deep laceration to the left side of his face.
He had surgery at Nepean Hospital and while he has been released, police have been told the serious facial injuries he suffered could potentially have a life-long impact.
Vision from inside the restaurant in the moments before the alleged attack, released by police on Tuesday, shows a man believed to be aged in his late teens or early 20s, wearing a black hooded jumper with a white horizontal stripe, black pants and black shoes.
The footage shows him with two other males, believed to be aged 16 or 17, one wearing a similar all-black outfit.
Investigators also released vision of a white Toyota Hilux with a silver tray and silver toolbox seen nearby.
Detectives are appealing for anyone with information about the incident to contact Penrith Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
