The story of LIK features a futuristic world where people are totally dependent on technology for everything, including real emotions and feelings. Set in 2040, the film shows a man named ‘Suriyan’ (played by SJ Suryah), who creates an app called LIK that treats love like a business deal or contract. ‘Suriyan’ has created this app for his own selfish motives. The app tracks real-life relationships and even provides compensation if someone cheats on their partner. Eventually, people start losing hope in real-life relationships and rely only on the app.

‘Vasudevan’ a.k.a ‘Vasu’ is totally detached from technology. He avoids the virtual world and lives a peaceful, tech-free life with his family. He strongly dislikes the tech world and maintains a safe distance due to a tragic past. Years ago, when ‘Vasu’ met with an accident, people, instead of helping her, were busy using their phones. However, although ‘Vasu’ dislikes technology, he secretly works for ‘Suriyan’ and his app, LIK. ‘Vasu’ gives voice to the app and earns from it.

When ‘Vasu’s’ father gets to know about his secret connection with the tech world, he feels hurt. But later, he forgives ‘Vasu’ when he promises to stay away from technology. ‘Vasu’ meets the love of his life, ‘Dheema’, a social media influencer through the LIK app. ‘Dheema’ totally trusts the app and its instructions. ‘Vasu’ falls in love with ‘Dheema’ instantly, and as she lives in the tech world, ‘Vasu’ starts using the app secretly to know ‘Dheema’ in a better way. As he helps her become more popular online, ‘Dheema’ starts falling for ‘Vasu’.

As ‘Suriyah’ stands against the system, the app crashes and the love score gets replaced by an infinity symbol.

After the LIK app crashes, it dismantles the illusion of control. Freed from the influence of the LIK app’s algorithm, ‘Dheema’ returns to ‘Vasu’. Trusting her emotions, ‘Dheema’ confesses her love to ‘Vasu’ and the couple reconciles. At the end, ‘Suriyah’ actual motive behind creating the app gets unveiled. He created the LIK app to cope with his own heartbreak and wanted to control love that once hurt him.
