Former Little Mix star Leigh-Anne Pinnock has admitted she would like to move to New York to for her mental health, but her husband Andre Gray isn’t on board with the idea

Leigh-Anne Pinnock has revealed she wants to move to New York – but her husband isn’t too keen on the idea.

The 34-year-old singer, who rose to prominence as a member of the girl group Little Mix, made the revelation in an appearance on the Relationsh*t podcast. During a conversation with host Kamie Crawford, 33, Leigh-Anne said she feels like she has a fan base in the United States that she wants to keep nurturing – but she admitted that it’s hard to do so as she raises her children in the UK.

The star, who is a confirmed contestant on the second series of The Celebrity Traitors, hosted by Claudia Winkleman, on the BBC, shares four-year-old twin daughters with her husband, professional footballer Andre Gray, 35. Earlier this week, she announced she is pregnant with their third child.

Explaining the reasons why she would like to relocate to the Big Apple, Leigh-Anne explained: “In the UK, there’s a lot of Black female artists that aren’t getting the support they deserve, and people are coming to America for that reason. Having experienced everything I’ve experienced, I’m now like, ‘I’m going where I’m loved.’ That helps my mental health.”

She added: “I definitely feel like there’s a market here for me and a fan base that I can keep nurturing. But I have to be here. And I’ll be honest, it is really hard with kids.

“My girls go to school in the UK. Like, if I come here, I can only really do two weeks at a time.” She added: “I want to move to New York, but my husband doesn’t want to. I mean, I get it! It’s frustrating.”

After a clip of her comments was shared on social media, many fans urged Leigh-Anne to follow her dreams. One said: “Baby you are too beautiful and talented to let a man hold you back.” Another said: “Girl please New York would be so perfect for her tell that man to kick rocks.”

“I love her so much, its YOUR time Leigh like he been traveling,” a third posted. “Girl I understand compromises in relationship but this is ridiculous she is the successful one not him,” one more added.

It comes just days after the singer announced her new pregnancy telling her fans on Instagram: “As one chapter ends, another begins.” She added a heart and the pregnant woman emoji. For the announcement, the singer shared a video showing her in a recording studio wearing a shirt tied above her tummy, checking her phone. The video then cut to a close up shot of Leigh-Anne with one hand on her baby bump.

She gave birth to twin daughters in August 2021, with the couple deciding to keep their names and faces out of the public eye to protect their privacy. Explaining the decision earlier this year, the mum said: “I remember when they were born, I was going through this online hate thing and really seeing the toxicity of social media.

“I mean, I probably would’ve still decided to not show their faces anyway, but that just kind of confirmed it for me. I want them to be able to make that decision.” She added: “I want them to be able to [choose] if they want to be famous or not, because once they’re out there, they’re out there and I think that’s such a big thing.”
