Coronation Street star Michael Le Vell proudly posed alongside his fiancée of 12 years, Louise Gibbons, just hours before they are due to tie the knot.
Coronation Street legend Michael Le Vell was spotted planting a kiss on fiancée Louise Gibbons’ cheek as they prepare to say “I do”. The lovebirds are set to tie the knot tomorrow in a swanky wedding, over a decade after they first started dating.
Ahead of their big day, the Kevin Webster actor clearly couldn’t keep his hands to himself in new pictures, as he lovingly packed on the PDA with his bride-to-be – before enjoying a sunny pint in the pub.
In one snap, Louise was seen rocking an all-white outfit in a T-shirt and tracksuit bottoms while her partner also got the casual memo in a grey top and beige shorts. Other photos showed the soap star proudly kissing his partner in one of their last meetings before their nuptials.
The pair started dating in 2014 and announced their engagement in 2017, after a three-year romance – but have kept much of their relationship away from the limelight. An insider said at the time that they were already planning a “low-key ceremony”.
A source claimed to The Sun of their big day: “Michael and Louise are heading to a registry office tomorrow. There will be no more than 15 people there, including a couple of his Corrie co-stars.
“It’s been a long time coming and will be full of love. Michael adores Louise, she has truly been his rock and he can’t wait to make it official.”
This marks his second wedding, as he was previously married to fellow star Janette Beverley – the pair, who share two children together, went their separate ways after 25 years of marriage.
Details of their ceremony are currently thin on the ground, but the day will hopefully go a lot smoother than the weddings Michael’s Corrie character is used to attending.
He has been a staple of our screens since joining the ITV soap in 1983, and is currently the second longest serving actor behind Ken Barlow actor Bill Roache. However, despite becoming a firm favourite on the cobbles, he admitted that he refuses to take his role for granted as things could change very quickly.
“You can never take the job for granted. My contract was due in January and I’ve just been offered a new one, so I can breathe a sigh of relief for another year,” he previously told the Mirror.
“But you can never look beyond that. They might say ‘you know what, we can’t write for you, we don’t know what to write for you anymore. Thank you and goodbye.’ That’s the nature of the beast.
“I’ll be in the show in my 70s, 80s and 90s, if they still want me. I’ve never been tempted to leave.
“I’ve had so many lines recently where Kevin’s said ‘I’m old, I’m grey.’ He even mentioned something about retiring the other week and I went ‘I don’t want to say that line, thanks very much!’ As far as I’m concerned, I’m in the No 1 show. It’s the best job in television and if it’s not broke, why change it?
“I love the storylines and the people – great actors like Sally Dynevor, Sally Carman and Alan Halsall. They’re such a joy to work with that some days it doesn’t feel like a job. Although I’m not going to say that too loudly or they might stop my wages!”
Although he has no plans to leave our screens anytime soon, Michael confessed that he still gets nervous for his scenes on a daily basis, adding: “I get a churning stomach and I feel apprehensive, especially if I’m in every scene.
“It’s even more stressful if I’m in a scene with someone like Bill Roache or Barbara Knox – mainly out of respect – or if I’m in a big scene in the Rovers.
“If there are lots of people in the pub, when it comes to your bit, you’re thinking ‘don’t mess up, don’t mess up.’ Otherwise, they’ll all have to go back and do their dialogue again, so that’s an added pressure.”
