Hyderabad: A low-pressure area over the east-central and southeast Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm and further strengthen in the coming days, the Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) warned on Friday.
APSDMA Managing Director Prakhar Jain said the system was likely to strengthen into a cyclonic storm over the west-central Bay of Bengal by Monday morning and move towards the coasts of North Andhra Pradesh and South Odisha over the next two days.
The weather system is likely to bring widespread rainfall across Andhra Pradesh, he said, urging people and farmers to take precautionary measures in advance. Jain also advised fishermen to return to the coast immediately in view of the developing weather system.
