She grabbed widespread attention soon after Netflix released the documentary, The Crash. While Mackenzie came under public scrutiny, her parents, Natalie and Steve, totally support her. Amid the controversy, Mackenzie’s dad, Steve’s contract for his teaching job has not been renewed.

According to a report by TMZ, Mackenzie Shirilla’s dad, Steve Shirilla’s teaching job contract has not been renewed. Steve had been put on leave after he made a controversial comment on her daughter’s smoking habit in Netflix’s documentary, The Crash. In a recent conversation with TMZ, Steve said that it was he who didn’t sign a contract with the school, as he is totally unhappy about how the school handled the situation. Steve added that his current focus is only on his daughter, Mackenzie:

“I wouldn’t resign a contract with them for the simple fact of how they handled this situation. The school and the diocese showed their true colours. I’m done talking about this or anything that’s not about the injustice my daughter has been put through. My only focus is on her.”

Mackenzie Shirilla’s dad, Steve, said in the documentary, The Crash that he has no problem with her daughter smoking dope. He also suggested what drug needs to be used for consumption. However, Steve shared on TMZ Live that his words were twisted in the documentary. Steve mentioned that he never allowed his daughter, Mackenzie, to smoke dope and didn’t know that she drove under the influence. He said in the documentary:

“I don’t have a problem with her smoking dope. If you’re going to smoke a drug, that’s the one I believe you should take.”

How is Mackenzie Shirilla’s life going inside jail?

Mackenzie’s former cellmates, Mary Katherine Crowder and Gypsy Rose Blanchard, have revealed how she has been spending her time inside jail. Mary shared that she dolled up in cute outfits and makeup behind bars and slept with multiple inmates. Mary alleged that she has had many girlfriends inside the jail. According to Mary, it was Mackenzie’s parents who were funding her lifestyle inside the Ohio Reformatory for Women, and they continuously bankrolled her prison commissary account and provided her with high-end items, makeup, and more.

Gypsy told TMZ that Mackenzie hooked up and had hickeys from her girlfriends. She mentioned that it was normal, and kissing was the best thing to pass the time inside jail. However, a recent prison call between Mackenzie and Natalie has a different story to tell. Mackenzie said to her mom that she has nothing to do in jail. She told her mom to fix her iPad issues so that she could stay connected with her friends. Natalie asked Mackenzie whether she could arrange a job for her inside the jail. In one of the phone calls, Mackenzie was heard telling her mom:

“No, because the charges that I have, they don’t let people with charges like mine get jobs, so I’m told. I haven’t asked the staff yet, though. But I probably can’t get a fucking job cause I’m on the seventh floor. They’re probably not gonna let me get a job.”
