Pune: The Japanese carmaker Nissan Thursday introduced the all-new Nissan Tekton at its global premiere in Mumbai priced at Rs 14.99 lakh for the T280 range and Rs 10.49 lakh for the T160 range to revive the brand’s presence in the world’s third largest car market.
The Tekton also received a 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP. The midsize SUV scored 30.49/32 points for adult occupant protection and 45/59 points for child occupant protection.
Positioned in the highly competitive midsize SUV segment, Tekton marks Nissan’s most important new product for the Indian market in recent years.
The C-SUV will play a key role in reviving the brand’s presence. The new Tekton is Nissan’s badge-engineered version of the Renault Duster and sold in six trims: Visia, Visia+, Acenta, N-Connecta, Tekna, and Tekna+ and 12 variants.
Bookings for the car are open, and deliveries start on July 20.
Tekton is the only model in its segment to offer a 100 per cent turbocharged engine line-up across the range, together with a host of segment-best features, such as segment-leading 280Nm turbo performance, Google built-in connectivity and class leading 700 litres of boot space.
Made at the Chennai plant and developed under the brand’s “One Car, One World” philosophy, Tekton will also be exported to several markets across the world, reinforcing India’s growing role in Nissan’s global manufacturing and product strategy.
“We are building a stronger and more competitive Nissan in India. As we continue to strengthen our SUV-led portfolio and sharpen our market focus, the world premiere of the all-new Nissan Tekton reflects our ambition to combine global product strength with deep local relevance,” said Guillaume Cartier, Chief Performance Officer at Nissan.
The Tekton is a clear expression of how Nissan is transforming with purpose – towards a more competitive, future-ready portfolio, he added.
The Tekton offers safety features like 6 airbags, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS.
The SUV is powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that develops 99 BHP and 166 Nm. It is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
The second engine option is a 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-petrol that puts out 161 BHP and 280 Nm. It is offered with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic.
