Madhuri Dixit Nene’s press wardrobe for Maa Behen has been leaning into colour, but her latest look is the strongest of the run so far. Styled by Sukriti Grover, the actor wore a dégradé silk satin sari by Sew Much Better, moving from pink and orange into ochre yellow. She accessorised it with diamond earrings from Khurana Jewellery House, flower-inspired rings by Manoharlal Jewellers and a floral appliqué potli from Nomad.
The sari’s colour transition is achieved with natural dying using discarded temple marigold flowers and sappan wood. Intricately beaded floral motifs are scattered across the drape alongside three-dimensional appliqués and red buttis. Dixit Nene wore it with a sleeveless pink blouse featuring a mandarin collar and a keyhole detailing, all coming together with a front-knot.
The floral notes played into the direction of the beauty lok, too. Makeup artist Lekha Gupta went with pink lips, a matching pink bindi and soft pink eyes accentuated with shimmer. Hair stylist Sheetal Khan styled her hair in a textured twisted bun accented with pink flowers.
From Vogue‘s fashion desk:
“Sharper asymmetric jewellery in silver would cut through the richness of the colour and appliqués, and work well against the mandarin collar. The potli could also be swapped for an east-west clutch in gold or silver,” says Manglien Gangte, Vogue India fashion associate.
