Madonna has confirmed her latest album, Confessions II, her first studio album in almost a decade, which is a continuation of her counterpart, Confessions on a Dance Floor
Madonna is back with her first album in seven years. Confessions II, set for release on July 3, will be the continuation of Confessions on a Dance Floor, released in 2005.
And ahead of the release, Madge has revealed the first look, and she’s ready to get back into action. Wearing a striking silver jacket and blue leotard, the pop superstar meant business as the 67-year-old looked younger than ever. And while she’s a fan of dance tracks, she believes people have got it all wrong.
Quoting the opening lines from the record’s lead single, One Step Away, she said: “People think that dance music is superficial, but they’ve got it all wrong. The dance floor is not just a place, it’s a threshold: A ritualistic space where movement replaces language
“When Stuart Price and I first started working on this record, this was our manifesto.” The manifesto reads: “We must dance, celebrate, and pray with our bodies. These are things that we’ve been doing for thousands of years — they really are spiritual practices. After all, the dance floor is a ritualistic space.
“It’s a place where you connect with your wounds, with your fragility. To rave is an art. It’s about pushing your limits and connecting to a community of like-minded people.
“Sound, light, and vibration reshape our perceptions, pulling us into a trance-like state. The repetition of the bass, we don’t just hear it, but we feel it. Altering our consciousness and dissolving ego and time.”
The original record was the first time Price produced a full record for Madonna, despite having worked together in 2001. He remixed tracks from her 2011 album, Music. Smash hit record Confessions on a Dance Floor saw Madonna take over the charts with hits including Get Together, Jump, Sorry, and Hung Up – instantly becoming a fan favourite.
Last year, Madonna confirmed she was back working with Warner Records and said she was “looking forward to the future, making music.” She dropped a huge hint about the album, saying: “Back to music, Back to the Dance Floor, Back to where it all began! COADF – P. 2 2026.”
But Madonna isn’t planning to slow down any time soon; instead, she’s throwing herself into work and will appear in the upcoming series of Seth Rogen’s show, The Studio. She was also recently spotted filming in Italy, alongside Julie Garner, who was reportedly set to play the star in a biopic.
However, plans for the biopic were later shelved – it was due to take place in an alternate reality. And although there’s no confirmed release date for One Step Away, there are no talks of Madonna touring again.
Madge last took to the stage across 2023 and 2024 for her Celebration Tour, treating fans to hits from across her entire back catalogue while also grossing more than $225million (£165,841,875) across 81 live performances.
Announcing her new album on social media, Madge said: “Confessions On A Dance Floor: Part II – July 3 2026.” Her upload, which has been liked over 370,000 times, was flooded with messages from excited fans and celebrities. Donatella Versace penned: “I can’t wait!”
“Alarm set,” exclaimed Michelle Visage. Another excited fan said: “Beyond excited.” “The Queen of Pop is back,” exclaimed another.
