MAFS Australia groom Scott has opened up on the insults he received from Gia that viewers never witnessed on screen

The damaging behind-the-scenes remarks that left one Married At First Sight Australia groom feeling “defeated” have come to light.

The popular reality show is approaching its conclusion for British audiences as the surviving couples navigate their ultimate confrontations – and the drama shows no signs of slowing down. Just this week, fans watched a final commitment ceremony where one pair decided to split mere days before the experiment’s finale.

Now, one participant has revealed the hurtful comments directed at him that never made it to screen. Scott and Gia positioned themselves as the “power couple” before their relationship began to fracture.

Last night (May 4), audiences saw Scott battling to voice his worries when confronted by the experts. He confessed: “I haven’t been able to address a concern without an argument or Gia spiralling.”

When questioned about what Gia would tell him, Scott attempted to dodge the issue, responding: “Can I please just say things that can make someone feel defeated and pretty down?”, reports OK!

This led expert John to intervene, stating: “Scott, we’ve got all night, we’re not going anywhere. We’re going to sit here and ask you uncomfortable questions until you come clean.

“If you don’t let us in you’re not going to last. What I’m seeing here is fake. I’m going to call you out, I’ve seen it the entire experiment. You talk about things in a way where you don’t give us any of the information.

“You skirt around the issues. I get it, you’re trying to fly under the radar. But what we’re saying tonight is that ends. You’re sat down here, you’re petrified of Gia and you’re not answering the questions.”

When finally addressing Gia’s concerns, Scott admitted: “So this is probably the most major concern, it could happen probably on average, once a week.”

He continued: “I feel like there’s a bit of pressure for me to say I’m in love and when I don’t say it, Gia will tend to spiral and say things like ‘you’re a crumb, you’re not a man, you’re not a provider, ‘you don’t give me reassurance’. Pretty much every name under the sun right?”

Yet Gia, who subsequently confessed to feeling rejected, hit back: “Every name under the sun is wild.” The bombshell left cast members visibly shocked as Scott revealed he felt “destroyed and completely worthless”.

When challenged about why she hurt Scott, Gia responded: “Because I felt hurt so I was like let me go hurt him. That’s the truth.”

Off-screen, Scott has since revealed more about the insults that weren’t broadcast. Speaking to nine.com.au about homestays, he disclosed there were “more problems” raised by Gia that hadn’t made it to air, saying: “Gia was always convincing me to look for places to move into straight after the experiment, but I realised I can’t move in with her yet.

“I’m not moving until, number one, I’m in love with her because I’m not making someone move states unless I genuinely love the person. Number two, I need to see her behaviours change because I don’t like the toxicity she brought to my environment.”

According to Heart, Scott also admitted his relationship at the time “wasn’t healthy.” MAFS fans were quick to weigh in on the couple’s drama, with one viewer posting on X: “Felt sorry for Scott, instead of Gia taking accountability she decided to turn the table around and make out like she is the one suffering.”

Someone else commented: “Scott do the right thing and run! She’s a walking red flag.” Another commented: “Scott still isn’t being honest. He’s opening up a little bit while playing it down.” A fourth viewer remarked: “Scott sounds like he’s gonna throw up and then pass out.”
