VIJAYAWADA: Telugu Desam national working president and IT and Electronics minister Nara Lokesh on Saturday called upon TD party cadres to work collectively and make the upcoming Mahanadu a grand success across Andhra Pradesh.

Addressing an online meeting with 1,875 cluster in-charges from across the state on Saturday, Lokesh reviewed preparations for the Mahanadu scheduled to be held on May 27 and May 28. He maintained that the conclave is not merely a party event, but a platform that reflects the ideology and commitment of the Telugu Desam towards the progress and welfare of the Telugu people. For party members, the annual conclave is a symbol of the party’s strength, sacrifice, discipline, and organisational spirit.

The TD national working president recalled that the party had conducted Mahanadu virtually during the Covid pandemic. It later organised a successful conclave in Ongole before the elections, which followed the party’s “historic victory” in 2024. This year’s Mahanadu, he said, would be organised under the theme “Stree Shakti Mahanadu”, with special focus on encouraging women’s participation in party activities on a large scale.

The minister recalled that the party had initially planned to organise the conclave grandly at Nellore. But it decided to adopt a hybrid format in view of fuel conservation measures suggested by Prime Minister Narendra Modi amid the prevailing international crises. Under the hybrid model, politburo members and national and state committee leaders would participate physically in the Mahanadu at the TD central office in Mangalagiri, while virtual Mahanadu programmes would be conducted simultaneously at 1,875 cluster centres across the state.

Lokesh directed cluster leaders to ensure participation of Family Empowerment coordinators, booth in-charges, village presidents, village committees, cluster committees, and members of affiliated wings. He stressed that the cluster system has been introduced to strengthen the party structure at the grassroots level. He underlined that the Mahanadu provides an excellent opportunity to reinforce coordination among cadres.

The TD national working president asked party leaders to make arrangements for LED screens, speakers, and technical infrastructure at every cluster venue, while attendance should be recorded through the My TDP app. Emphasising on discipline and commitment, Lokesh said individuals may not be permanent in the party, but the organisational system must remain enduring.

He disclosed that the party leadership is identifying active workers through My TDP app and is giving priority to those who work sincerely in nominated posts.

With local body elections expected soon, Lokesh asked party workers to intensify the party’s outreach at the grassroots’ level. It can use the Mahanadu as a platform to connect with people and strengthen the organisation further, he suggested.

MPs, MLAs, MLCs, constituency in-charges, zonal coordinators, parliamentary party presidents, general secretaries, and party presidents from mandal, town, and division units participated in the virtual meeting.
